what alarms are people running and what do they recommend i get to replace my standard?

In the year I've been on this forum I don't think I've ever seen this subject covered! Most people stick with the standard alarm which is total pants. Personally I would get one with proximity sensors but that's because I have alloy mirrors that I'm worried about getting half inched.

People tend to ignore car alarms these days and they certainly don't deter professional thieves. Stick to a good immobiliser so at least your car doesn't go anywhere and don't leave valuables in it.
