Set off to work this morning, having not used the car since Friday, and the rear view mirror was set too low. Went to adjust it and it was all loose, seems to have come unstuck at the top but being held on at the bottom - by the rain sensor I think. Anyone else had this?
Going into dealer Thursday to be checked out.

Just checked and nearly fully off now. Might have to pop to Crawley Audi a day earler...

Oh yeah the bonding has definitely failed, that will be a new windscreen imho by audi, just take along they will organise someone to come out to you directly or the dealership.

Bang on.

New screen being fitted Monday. Mirror was off completely this morning, just hanging on the cables. (Which I of course un-plugged).

Why does this mean a new windscreen? Can't they glue it back on?

Its a new car & audi wont bond it back on, they have to go with safety & is the best guarantee they can get for it not to come of again, new screen is the best they'd get.

Apparrently the fault is with the 'thing' on the screen that the mirror attaches to...

Also as NHN says, they don't want it to happen again. They've ordered new mirror and all the bits as well.

Must say - don't notice how often you look in the mirror, until it's not there. And of course no auto lights or wipers at the moment.

TBH they should give you a loan car, as no rear view mirror could be an offence, not sure.

Don't think it is as long as you have a drivers door mirror. You rear view could be blocked just by being fully loaded in the boot (as it has been on occasions!).

Not an offence, vans with no back windows in just have two exterior mirrors.

That's the minimum requirements for a new type of vehicle to be roadworthy, but any vehicle has to still have all the mirrors put there by the manufacturer.
