Rear Fog Lights

Currently I live in Germany, and as part of the law out here I need to switch my Fog light to the Right side on my 2004 A4. I have removed the both of the rear lights and and they both look the same. But only a light in the right side cluster. I swapt the lights around to find it did not work. I have a crack in my Left rear light, this might be the problem or does light not get any power?

any got any ideas

you need to rewire to have it on the other side

Will any old wire do or do I need a specific wire?
