hi i have a face lift A4 saloon with symphony HU just wanted know if the rear doors are pre-wired for speakers?
thanks

Hi, Ras. Long time, no speak. B5 A4 saloon has no wiring to rear doors for speakers. I wanted to install rear door speakers on my old 2.8Q but no joy.

Take care, old buddy.

cheers Jeff

ill have to work out a way to wire them in hopefully i dont have to run them all they way from the HU? i have the speakers already on some new door cards.

Audi HU can't drive rear speakers. It only has an internal amp for the fronts. You'll need to either take a feed from the rears in the back shelf or install a small amp to drive them.

Cheers Andy do i just tee in L & R speaker connections?

Andy also im looking for a sub amp that i can control the loudness from the from like a knob or something so when children in the car i can turn it down.

Have a look for one with a wireless remote control, otherwise you're looking at quite a bit of rewiring

any particular makes or models its a mine field out there?

im also thinking would the rear EXISTING amp be ok if i connect the rear door speakers to this>?

thanks again

No definately not. It's only 2 x 20w and the size of a matchbox, you'd need to hook up the door speakers in series with the rear deck speakers otherwise you'll be halving the impedance which will kill the stock amp.
If you're installing a sub I'd disconnect the rear deck speakers and just rewire the amp to the rear doors. The deck speakers sound awful and will sound even worse with a sub thumping up behind them.
I'm sure I saw some amps that had wireless remotes, but can't see any on the net now. There are a few with wired bass controllers, this Kenwood is a bargain at £120 for 500wrms bridged.
