Hi guys. I have a 2012 b8 with 3g high system and would like to retrofit a rear view camera.
Has anyone any idea what I would need to do this? I'm guessing I would need an extra module and it's not just a matter of plugging in a camera?

You will need:
Rear Camera - 5N0 827 566 C
Camera Module - 8T0 907 441 C
Camera module bracket
Wiring loom

You may have the camera bracket already fitted. It was present in mine when I fitted my camera. Best double check before you buy one. Camera power feed is in the rear fuse box and you’ll need to run wires up front for the video feed and CAN connectors to get the steering angle. A few changes with VCDS and you should be good to go.

If you change the coding of your camera module it will then throw a calibration required error. There are guides on how to calibrate it but you will need an alignment/calibration chart printing. Again pdfs and the info is out there.

Cheers guys.
Any rough ideas of the price for the parts needed? Are they dealer only or is there any aftermarket kits available??

For a guess on eBay £70 for the camera/handle, £120 for the module, you may be lucky on the prices.
Kufatec will sell you a loom. The bracket is about £12 new from audi parts.

Kufatec also have a full kit but the price is somewhat higher.

Thanks guys. Very helpful.
Why someone skimped on it when the car was new is beyond me! Front and rear park sensors and nav but no camera. Also full leathers in the car but not heated!!!

When I sold my 3.0TDi last year I removed all the parts I retrofitted. Under my bed I have all the reversing camera bits (minus the loom), MMI 3G+ bits, DAB radio, B&O MOST Amp, AMI cable plus lots of other stuff. I have been meaning to put them in the classifieds section or eBay.

DAB radio... what is included in that, is it a straight forward install?

DAB radio (for MMI 3G systems) also needs an additional amplifier (£15-20) and an ~3m female-female fakra cable from the radio to the amplifier. Pretty straight forward install on the saloon. You need to pop off the drivers side c-pillar trim, mount the amplifier and run the cable to the radio. The biggest PITA is the unit needs component protection to be removed by an Audi dealer or some independent VAG specialists.

I'll try and load some items in classifieds this weekend.

Might be interested in that unit, how much would you be looking at for it?
