Hi, On my near side rear brake disc there is a band about one inch all the way round which the pad doesn't touch. The car was in for a service yesterday and I had them look at it but they said that's normal but the off side disc is fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I go back or to another dealer. I will post a pic later when it stops raining. Cheers

Well the picture obviously show's that the pad hasn't bedded into the disc properly, they do say to brake gently for the first 50-100 miles but as you say you've done 9600 miles.

Only thing I can suggest is:
1. The pad isn't seated/clipped into the Caliper properly.
2. The brake piston in the Caliper is sticking on one side.
3. The Caliper itself is not seated onto the hub properly.
4. The brake pad has a little chunk/piece missing from it where it should meet the disc.
