My car got it's MOT yesterday 2011 S Line 58K on the clock and I've been quoted £583.68 for the timing belt to be replaced.

Is that right or are Mercedes trying to rip the eyes out me?

I know what your thinking, Mercedes? but it's an Audi. Arnold Clark don't own an Audi Garage near me, or a VW garage so BMW last year and Mercedes this year.
 
Yes, that's a typical Main dealer price for cam belt change, it may include the annual service such as oil and filters. You are free to shop around for a lower quote of course, there are independent specialist VAG workshops around, just need to find a good one. Hopefully some one will be along and know a good Indy near you. Just noticed your in Caithness so I guess not much near you, keep an eye on this thread.
 
As above try and find a specialist if you can. Also, make sure this price includes the tensioners and water pump.

I had my cambelt and water pump & all tensioners done in January of this year by a very good local (South Wales) VW & Audi specialist for £399 using all Genuine parts.
I agree that around £600 is what a main stealer would charge these days.
 
I've done on my own for 100£ xP however dealer will cost you fortune, specialists around 300-400 local garage should be under 250
 
+1 for Kenny's Inverness always been top work there. Also Chalmers Inverness are very good garage
 
Had mine done a few weeks back Audi quotes £600 got it done at awesome for £350 2 year warrenty no complaints
 
Getting my cambelt, aux bel and all tensioners with waterpump done on the 27th for £310 all in ;)

Thats on an A3 2011 170 Quattro TDI
