After months of driving with steering wheel 45degrees out today I looked to re align it and get tracking done.
Here is how I got so far:

You need to take the centre bolt out and take the wheel off and put it back on straight, it's a splined shaft, I should think you will also need to sort out the steering angle sensor with vcds or similar afterwards aswell.

Dont think thats normal to be out that much, has it had a hard kerbing.
i would be getting it checked to check nothing in the steering was bent.
steering angle sensor might need re calibrated as well if you take the wheel off and move it that much.

Does anyone know the size if the socket for this centre bolt?

From memory it's a 12mm triple square bit, though a T55 should work.
