Great thread - I have a similar coloured 2.4SE which I will be slowly doing up. First thing on the list is the micro switch on the drivers door as lights are not coming on or HUD showing door open. Just waiting in the correct oil filter before I can drive it as ECP one doesn't thread properly onto the oil cooler.

Completed the TV install today, many thanks to Scott. More info and pics soon.

Finally located a sensibly priced door blade to replace the NSF one with the missing rubber seal. Sprayed and fitted it today. Hopefully no more filthy door sill!

So the 12v Freeview box I bought only comes with a small magnetic aerial,if I put that on the roof I can get a few channels, but in the car it becomes a bit sketchy. Here is the box mounted in the CD changer bracket above where the OEM media player sits:

You can also see the USB and HD card options.

A user on Another forum has had good experiences with one of these,so it's next on the list I think.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310802821023

The below video (to be added) shows it in action, BBC's One and Two had the strongest signal, this is obviously Two as no one needs to see Bargain Hunt I'm sure!

I'm still doing my research about a new booster aerial, just need to get the right connections to avoid faffing about with an adapter etc

This is the most likely candidate, hopefully it will look fairly discrete in the rear three quarter window, if not maybe I'll tuck it up under the roof lining.

15mm spacers have arrived for the rear wheels, will fit and update when I have time.

I also got another rear load cover for sensible money, so might try and repair my old one as a bit of a project.

Swapped the rear 8mm spacers for some 15mm ones today. It was a sh1tty day so apologies for the photo's... I think it sits well now, both front and rear arches just sit proud of the top of the tyres by a few mm which works well for me.

Fitted some new front brakes pads this afternoon. The (massive) orange light came on last week, I didn't investigate but got some Pagid pads from ECP for £30. Considered doing the 312mm disc upgrade, I have the carriers, but can't really stretch to new discs this month. The old pads weren't that bad, but the sensor wire was damaged on the nearside so that's cured the light.

I swapped the rear wheels to the front, the rears got an advisory at the mot last month, and they'll need doing once Christmas is out the way, so I'll burn them out on the front till then! Will check out tyre prices soon, will probably go Pirelli again unless any other bargains jump out at me.

Two new P Zeros on the front complete this months expenditure. Thankfully.

Still got the TV aerial amplifier on watch, it's also been joined by an Aero rear wiper and the possibility of swapping the 8mm front spacers for some 10 or 12's....

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Not much to report really, Christmas excess's have reined in spending a bit!

I'm going to the Alps for a week in March, and am wondering whether to invest in a set of chains/socks or winter tyres. I'm not sure I fancy a cheap set of chains, probably snap and take out my front brake pipes and wings, if indeed I manage to get them on at all! So it's £120 ish for a decent pair of Thule's, vs maybe £50 ish for some good socks, but I'm not sure how effective they are!

If I'm spending £120 on something I may not use then I'd almost rather get get a couple of 205/55 snow tyres for the 16" wheels that came on the car are are currently stacked up unused. Not sure if I'd buy a pair or get a full set and bite the bullet, at least with snow tyres I could run them all winter and save my summer wheels a bit.

Anyone got any snow tyre recommendations?

The only recommendation I can make is that I've read & heard a number of times that you should never mix a pair of winter tyres with a pair of summer tyres.

The A6 is back on its 16's!

I got a good deal on four Yokohama V905 winter tyres, £70 each fitted. 205/55 16's.

I look forward to some degradation in the weather and seeing how they do. Even with 15mm spacers the rear wheels look lost in the arches...!

I'm impressed. It rides better on the 16's as you would expect, grip wise I don't drive it like the A4 anyway, and we've not had enough snow to really test them. Alps soon though

I've been wanting to fit the spray washer's I removed from my A4, as I so much prefer that over the A6's feeble two jets, but I hadn't got round to it due to the need to bond them in etc... Then Scott showed me these little beauties...

    8E0 955 431 "Adapters"....

They basically clip into the bonnet like so and fill the gap between the washer jet and the hole (internet pic..)

    All finished, very impressive!

Here's the A6 on holiday in the French Alps. 1800 miles and didn't miss a beat and was very comfortable.

Averaged 46mpg and diesel is a nice 90p per litre.

Where I can get that "TDI sport edition" on the front grill? I have seen on rear tail gate at Ebay, but not the front one..
I like your number Plate, and A6 Condition very nice, indeed! I giving away my A6 tomorow to restore my Front headlights, and then I am planning to tint light black colour, to look better, and protect them from fading is well...

@AR-rkon I fitted them from a Passat.... 5MO 955 986 9B9 - (heated version) There have been a few group buys etc over the years.

    http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...-to-vw-passat-fan-jet-conversion.65482/page-2

    A must do mod IMO.

@Tom-Audi It's the same badge, just mounted on the same mount as used for the quattro grille badge. I probably have the part number somewhere, but your dealer will sort you out for a few quid.

Thank you for your comments :thumbs up:

I think Lamin-X can look good on headlights, but it can also look tacky if not careful. I've never seen a C5 with a Joey Mod, but you know you want to try it for us....

I guess you must be wrong.... As far as I know the 1.9 was available in both 5 and 6 speed guise from 2001 ish onwards. As I said in one of my early posts, although DVLA have mine down as an SE it has the exact same spec as a Sport so who knows. Audi specifications are notoriously hard to fathom at the best of times!

Here's the 6 as she stands today, a much needed clean after the sojourn to the Alps! I've just dug the summer wheels out for a clean and polish and they'll go on soon. I'm not sure the winter tyres were strictly necessary this year, but you never know and they don't appear to have really worn at all so they'll be sitting ready for next year. Although the 16's looked quite small initially I've got used to them again now.

Service tomorrow, apart from re-securing the undertray she's all good I think.

My A6 going for a cambelt friday, new water pump, altenarator+air con new belts. New antifrezee coolant, new EOM coolant green 4 pin sensor, new EOM thermostart, and new NKG glow plugs, also replace air con preasure valve sensor (thats used part from scrap yard for a 5£, coz EOM was asking 64£), after diagnostics was showing error fault at that air con sensor, thats why air con not working... I notice bad idle when stand still and engine runing, i am hoping coolant-temp sensor will sort that issue out? And new EOM thermostart will bring engine to working temperature where it should be ~90°, not stuck open all the times at 60°... I am still facing bad and long morning starts, but new temp sensor and new glow plugs hopefully will sort this issue out...? I tried to put ingition on, then turn off, and put back on again, and this seems helps abit with morning starts... Any ideas what else could cause bad engine idle issue? I was thinking posible injector blockage, but just had recently injector cleaner after service direct to a fuel filter, and diagnostics computer was showing fuel preasure ok, compresion in the cilinder ok...

That washer jet mod looks good, is it literally just a straight swap over? I'm not overly impressed with the jets on my barge either.

Yes, as long as you get the adapters I've mentioned then it's just a matter of unplugging the connections for water and power.

I saw these advertised in the new Audi Tuner magazine so thought I'd give them a go.

    http://www.partsulike.co.uk/

Both my sidelight and number plate lights need replacing, so I bought THESE and THESE respectively. Free postage and they came quickly, they look ok quality and have 12 months warranty. I'll report back when fitted.

All fitted now and look good, I'll get some photo's next time I have the DSLR out and it's dark.

I have been thinking about upgrading from 288mm front discs to the 312 discs from my A4, I have the caliper mounts which seem to be the expensive part, so will just need new discs as I can use my existing calipers. I was then offered some 323mm discs with larger calipers from an A8, for probably what I could sell the 312 caliper mounts for. The question is will my 16" winter wheels fit over them....?

    Same blades, 99% certain.

Are youre a8 brakes D2 or D3? The B5 S4 brakes go straight in if youre having troubles with fitment, a 323mm disk will be pushing it behind a 16" wheel, good luck!

The 323mm discs don't fit, the offset is all wrong. I had a trial fit to see if the 16" wheels would fit over the calipers but I didn't even get that far.

I'm considering whether to source alternative discs with a the correct offset, or just to buy some 312mm and do that.

Here are the pics which show the rear of the discs hitting on the leg where it meets the hub.

With the disc held against the hub face there is still approx 10mm gap:
