World War One Memorials visited during a quick trip to France on Friday.

Warlencourt Military Cemetery.

Beaumont Hamel, home to the Newfoundland Regiment.
The memorial holds the names of those missing and never found.

This is where it got really eerie. In all my visits to war memorials this is the first time I had ever come across the existing trenches.

Very sombre moment as you actually walk through a trench.

Thiepval.
This is a very large monument holding the names of 72,000 soldiers of WW1 who were never found, names are removed once the remains are found and buried with full military honours.

Cemetery for the ones found.

Fantastic pics as usual Paul. Where were these taken? :) x

Thank you Sandra.
All taken at Dover, the first one from White Cliff car park and the other two approaching the harbour while still on the ferry.

I took this one a while back while out walking with my Grandsons. I don't know what it was that captured their attention but when I saw this on the full screen at home, I realised that this picture was quite special, (for me anyway).
The original colour shot did nothing for me but, in black and white, it really stands out.

Nice one John, I'm looking out to see him, but there's not to much info when & where he's running.

Great shots John, like @Ghost, I'd love to catch The Flying Scotsman.
Best I have is Tornado, the one built from scratch a few years back, running here as "The Seaforth Highlander".

No narrow gauge this far North John, but I really like Roedeer in the last shot, that's a thing of beauty.
