As in title will my 2.0 tdi self prime after running out of juice?....is there something i need to do?

I would put some good quality fuel in and also change fuel filter

If you completely ran out it may have dragged the crap from the bottom of the tank

You should get about 10-15 miles out of it when the DIS shows 0.
You must have really pushed it.
As above, change the filter in case you have taken some dirt through.

No cranking the engine will make the pump and filter self prime.Against all odds ,if it ever fails to start, take off one end of any turbo pipe going into the manifold and squirt WD40 or engine start and it sure starts it all the time.

it said 5 miles left in it....but its parked on my drive which is a slight slopes and its parked upwards????

i guess your original question has been answered - it should self prime

now...what the hell is it doing with such little fuel in the tank? :p

just glad its alll sorted....up and running........happy days....again..:)

My personal best on zero is 48, not that it's a good thing to do or anything.. It's like free miles when the DIS shows zero.

I have however got further in my company car (Honda Civic 2.2 iDTEC with the DIS showing zero.. it was around 64.. and also ran out of diesel 200 yards from the Jet fuelling station.. Needles to say, i've learnt my lesson.
