Finally got time to fiddle with capacitors in a reverse bulb.
Seen a video on YT of a guy fitting 35v 4700uf capacitor in parallel to a led bulb.
This was to eliminate led strobe with every bulb check by CANBUS.

As I had relays installed, had to rip them out and amend the wiring so I could attach the capacitor.

When all connected, there was no dash error and no strobing. At least not at the beginning.
Strobing gone but after 2-3 minutes of every time I started the ignition/engine, dash error would've popped up and shut the reverse bulb entirely.

After all this malarkey, I went to the original solution of having the led bulb in CANBUS system and left in the resistors only.
No dash error but strobing came back.
Cannot be asked anymore to solve it.

I did however, added some wiring to the tailgate opening handle connector.
This is going to be run to a button in the center console, just next to the parking system button and imitate handle switch.
Springs on the gas struts will lift the tailgate but it still have to be released and that button is the only way to do so, from inside.
To help my wife with opening the boot, while seated in the car, I had to switch off the engine, take the key out of the ignition and long press the boot opening button in the key fob.
Inly thing I haven't thought through is, that button being active while driving and if pressed by accident, the tailgate will open.
Will need to either reposition the button or fit another safety feature.

Also, when I was installing the switch for the air horn and standard horn, I had majority if the center console taken off.
Got Black High Gloss wrap from fleeBay and thought if wrapping it. It meant to look like Piano Black and for a moment thought it will.
That moment passed quickly as my patience run out. Wrap was easily scratched by my finger tips, trying to stick it to the silver bit and it was looking horrible.
On top of that, realised then, this could be high maintenance piece in the car and I would never get the swirls off.
Ashtray and bottle holder lids started to peel off on the corners event before I have finished wrapping.
Thought, if it comes off and lift up so easily, it will also do when the sun heat up the interior.

When was completing the other works, I have also installed a leds in the centre armrest.
Covered the led strip with Tessa tape to be more discreet.
It is connected to the rear cigarette socket light so it lit up when the ambient light is on.

To connect it is fine but to run the cables within that armrest was a pig of a job.
Had to strip the entire armrest and run them cables along the telephone cables through the hinge and to come out from the bottom.
Took some time but hey, whet else I would at night[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Also, I think I know all the swear words of the world plus made up some new ones. Lol

Let’s start with the LEDs. Where did you source them from? Also mine didn’t come with the phone prep in the centre console... could you describe where the wires routed through? I suspect there’d be placeholders already, knowing how Audi designs stuff!

Leds are from eBay. Got the whole roll of 5 meters or Red 5050 waterproof strip.
Covered them in Tessa tape to kinda match with the fluffy interior if the armrest and not to show obvious led strip, just the led points.
Used the same leds in the door cards, on internal door handles when was upgrading ambient lighting.

Once the armrest was freed from the center console (that is simple), you need to pry up the inner part of it from the front.
Slide flat and thin tool and pry it up gently. It will pop up.
You will see two little screws from inside of the armrest, one on each side of the armrest, halfway trough the length.
If unscrewed, the whole armrest cover is 1 piece and held also on small pins, covered by that internal part you've removed firstly.
Just pry up the cover over the pins and you'll be able to release the cover and gently slide it off from the front.

As the leds are glued to the inner part, cables have been run through drilled hole (all measured so the leds are centered) and come out through. There is a lip (double front) of that front inner part so I was fishing the cables out from there.
Than just run it to the hinge, where the whole armrest is folding and throught drilled hole in there down to fixing point.

If you don't have a telephone option in the armrest, arrange a quick release connector for the leds just in case, if you want.
I just tapped into the lighter cables and if any leds go off, I'll resolder them in the armrest.

Because I was following telephone wires in there so it was easier for me to find the route but going that way, you'll get it done.

Thought if putting the leds in the armrest lid but it wouldn't make sense when you lift open it.

To mention, rear cigarette lighter power and light power are on one connector with three wires. Two thicker ones are for the socket power where middle one is positive and external is negative.
Other thinner cable is positive to led in the socket.
You need to connect your wires to these two cables, positive from leds to thin cable and negative to thicker outer cable.
Forgot to take pictures and wire colours.

Just fitted fly eye net/vinyl on the rear windows.

Couldn't get the door cards with roller blinds so applied this on so kids at the back will not scream about the sun.
Tint isn't very dark and didn't want to go for them put on nets. They look horrible, imho.

Waiting for the wind deflectors to finish up the look.
Went for them mainly as it is better for parked up motor in the sun. Just lower the window slightly and the interior will not get so heated up.

Bonnet had some spots contamination which I couldn't get off for some time so polished it off with compound and it is sooo much better now.

Nearly done up for the trip[IMG]

Team HEKO deflectors arrived and fitted in no time.

Roof rack also fitted to take the roof box tomorrow.

BTW, if some local to Bedfont TW14 (near Heathrow airport) member would plan a trip and would look for a roof box to rent, please let me know.
Don't want silly money p/w but deposit and ID to view would be required.

    Its the Exodus 470 box.

Will take some proper pictures when it will be fitted on tomorrow.

Also cleared the car from all the clutter I had hidden away and it feel much lighter. Lol[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Managed to install new tinted plates.
They arrived before I left for holiday but didn't had time to change them.

Pictures taken with enhanced night mode in phone camera but will take some pictures in day light also.

Comparison of two plates is with visible difference of shade.

I see more and more cars on the roads with them plates so it must be ok.
    Time will tell

Please, don't mind the filth on the car. Weekend before the last one, I've came back from nearly 1000km trip and had no time to wash it yet.
There are still Polish, German, Netherlands, Brussels, French and local bugs on the paint.
    Wash is due soon[IMG][IMG][IMG]

For info tinted plates aren’t legal. It will fail mot and police can stop you.

Plus the plates don’t have the makers name on them.

These are what is known as ‘show plates’.

    Yes, mate.
So many things in life are illegal and plenty of people are using or doing them.
You could say even, everyone has done something illegal at least once in their life, deliberately and without regret.

Also, here's a discussion We had elsewhere about them plates:

    https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/to...&share_tid=399151&share_fid=2376&share_type=t

    Tinted plates

Not being "smarty pants" here but I do know my plates are dark. In fact, they are darker than regular tinted plates I've seen on the roads but I have also seen ones like mines.
With that in mind, I'm going to face the copper and see what the consequences can be.
That is, if ever stopped for plates.

Deep clean of the car interior and Aircon nearly completed.

Vacuumed the interior, sprinkled bicarbonate soda to absorb any odours, vacuumed again (vacuum cleaner nearly got busted), deep cleaned carpets+seats+headliner+pillars and boot with Meguiars Carpet & interior cleaner, Dakota Odor interior cleaner bomb deployed (wish I've chosen different one), A/C and vents cleaned with K2 Klima Doktor, new filter pollen filter installed.

Good that I have the wind deflectors in the windows so I can leave the windows lowered to allow quicker intwrior drying.

    Mats washed and draining now.
Awaiting for them to dry up so I can give them once over with Meg cleaner and job done

It will be good for a week or two or few trips with kids and it will get the crumbles again[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Having no food for my 2 & 5 year old would mean my ears would bleed of their cry.

Luckily for me when cleaning, younger one had the messiest car seat but what was under the car seat of the older one was beyond the mess I was expecting.

They both done with milk so only drink spilled was that energy drink pierced in the shopping bag in the rear footwell.

Here's the quickest mod?, thing I could do to the car.

    Added cigarette sockets caps.

That black gloss little plugs looks really well there and starting to think seriously now about, getting the center console and speed trim in Gloss Piano Black.

Gloss vinyl wrap could not be applied by my diy poor wrap skills as I was scratching the gloss with my fingers applying it, not to mention what it would be to maintain it.

    Another quickie.

Had a leak from boot rubber, by the left hinge recently. Water ingress was drying out in the parcel cover and that thing is not that easy to clean.

Before will try to use any kind of spray or cleaner on it, I have layed B shape rubber on the tailgate outer edge, where it beets the original sill.
It is harder now to close the boot and have to slam it a bit but with time it will be better, I'm sure.
Joint will be closed properly with heat so no water gets inside the seal.

Easy fix and the rubber sill is easy to bend around corners

Seen videos on YT recommending inserting Neoprene Sponge/Foam Cord inside the sill chamber to reinforce it and give extra bounce but can't be asked to squeeze in thin, flimsy cord to a tight, dry and long hole.
    Might do that on doors.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I was against them at some point and covered them but with time, I guess my taste has changed slightly and don't mind it so much.
It does break to colours on a dark car to give contrast but little accents of black gliss are also needed here and there, imho.

Planning to get side skirts in gloss black so they will match together with front grille and that rear bit.

Managed to complete few things tonight

    1. Finished up with installation of fan washer jets. Plastic shims mended and glued onto the jets so they don't jump out during the jet install.
Jet housing also mended so the spray pattern reaches higher.

    2. Machine polished windscreen exterior and properly degreased glass interior.
Same on both front door windows.

    3. I've changed tired Bosh wipers with OEM ones, thanx to @creweaudiparts .
Due to test with all above.

    4. Installed soundproof foam with heat insulation layer underneath the bonnet in hope of allowing more heat to be reflected back to the engine bay. In this weather, engine doesn't heat up as quick as I would want.

    5. Installed little BLACK gloss touch on the centre console: MMI navigation joystick.
Makes a nice complementary matching piece to dash trim recently sprayed and cigarette lighter cover.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Didn't noticed improvement on engine noise outside of the car tbh.

As for temperature, think there is a slight improvement.

I have used this foam for the first time and it is not the same which I've used on the doors. It isn't as good as the other one.
That foam on the doors is a proper sound deadening and temperature insulation, you can tell. If I knock on the door skin from outside, it doesn't sound hollow anymore. It's solid but it is heavy also.
I knew that foam on the bonnet wasn't as good and didn't want to add weight on the lifting piston. Not that I open it as often as tailgate but still.
Will use that foam on the tailgate again but on the rest of the car (if plan comes to life) will use the same as on the doors.
