Need an answer sharpish!!
Considering gap insurance and not sure what they mean asking when for the vehicles invoice price, is this ; price with interest or price on windscreen?
Thanks in advance

Return to Invoice means quite simply the original price of the car as stated on your invoice.
Here is a quote from a GAP company called Car2Cover.

Return To Invoice Gap Insurance will pay the difference between;
a) the motor insurers claim settlement and..
b) what the Gap Insurance policyholder originally paid for the vehicle.

With this protection, the motorist will have the same amount of money to spend on a replacement as he or she originally spent. Return To Invoice Gap Insurance is purchased by and suitable for cash buyers and financed buyers alike. Our Return To Invoice Gap Insurance policies are ‘combined’ policies which means that if the vehicle is financed via a dealer arranged plan and the lenders finance settlement figure exceeds the original vehicle invoice price, it will pay the higher figure.

When getting a quote, www.gapinsurance.co.uk ask for the price you paid for your vehicle AFTER any discounts that you may have received but before the addition of any finance/interest charges etc - the price on windscreen, as you put.

Policies normally use 'Net Invoice Selling Price' - the purchase price of the Vehicle including any discount given, but excluding any warranty, new vehicle registration fee, any insurance premiums, road fund licence, fuel and paintwork protection applications, any arrears or negative equity transferred from a previous agreement. It does include the VAT if you haven't recovered the VAT through a business or in person.

It’s definitely worth the peace of mind to get GAP insurance. Especially on new cars when depreciation is so bad in the first year.
