Morning all,

I need a new battery and as it’s 59% discount day at GSF I’ve decided today is the day. I’m new to my Q7 and getting the wrong can be an expensive mistake to make. If any of you have the time could you please let me know what one of the many that get listed by gsf as suitable I should actually get? Thank you for your time in advance.

Tried to get on the GSF site and it won't let me select a vechicle so I can't see what they have.
If they are anything like Euro Car Parts the initial price is high so even after taking off 50% plus it's still expensive.
The best battery to get would be a Varta silver. These are the same as fitted to most Audis from new.
The battery size for your Q7 looks to be an 020, which would make sense as my A4 3.0 TDI uses one of those.
Compare the prices on GSF with these.

This is what I bought for my car. Although I only paid just under £100 3 years ago.

They are cheaper on Fleabay from the same people. £115 delivered

FYI Bosch and Varta batteries are made by Varta and are the same spec, Ie an S5 Bosch is the same as a silver Varta.
But Varta always tend to be cheaper.

Got on the GSF site, They don't seem to stock an 020 battery in anything other than AGM. They are recommending a smaller 096 battery.
Selecting a Bosch S5 the same spec as a Varta Silver and applying the discount just under £100 .
This is only around an 80Ah battery compared to the larger 020 which is 110ah

Goto Fleabay and you can get the same battery for £83 delivered.

Don't get caught up in the big discount all it's doing is making the prices more comparable to what they should be.

Thanks for your help I really do appreciate it. I ended up getting frustrated with all the ******* about in London traffic and went to an Audi specialist down the road and got a fitted OEM battery for just over £200 which I consider to be an alright deal. They did the Power management coding and supplied and fitted the battery while I waited. On my old 1.8t a4 avant i did everything and ended virtually rebuilding it but after struggling to even qualify who was selling the right battery I had a flash back of all the lost days to jobs that I said to the mrs “ honestly love I’ll be an hour tops to do this”. Suddenly £200 was bargain I couldn’t miss out on!
Once again thanks for your time. It is genuinely appreciated. If Anyone reading has any tips or things I should be aware of, be maintaining or generally making my life easier as new q7 owner please feel free to pass them on. many thanks
Jim
