Hey guys

Nearly finished my facelift conversion on my 2007 Q7 and bought the J519 comfort control module to properly run the rear lights (as I often saw this recommended over the adaptor route).

The part number I have purchased is: 4L0 907 289 H, however from what I understand this has component protection. I have a genuine VCDs, is it possible to use this to transfer over remove component protection and transfer over all old coding from the old unit to the new facelift one? I've read online that people seem to go to the dealer to get this done?

Thanks in advance for the the advice in relation to this.

Cheers!

Dealer or independent specialist who has the equipment to do so. Wasting your time trying to get VCDS to remove it ;)

Thanks for the advice Darren.

Anyone in the East London area recommended for this? I could go to my local dealer if not. What is the expected dealer price to remove protection? would they be willing to transfer the coding from my old box?

Thanks again all!

There doesn't appear to be a standard price for doing this kind of work at the dealers. And some are more helpful than others. Some people have posted their experiences and they haven't been good. Where the dealer has basically refused to remove CP and said they would do the work if they provided a new module.
Very hit and miss, you are probably better off finding an independent who knows what they are doing. Not sure where @NHN is based.

Thanks for letting me know desertstorm.

Can anyone local to the East London/ Essex area provide this CP removal service? There must be a wealth of people doing these since there are so many facelift conversions out there...

Also guys would someone kindly explain what exactly the J519 comfort control module actually controls? I know it's needed for the rear lights but does it control everything else too? headlights etc?
