I’ve only ever seen a Q registration once, many MANY years ago.

I was once told that they were registered against home built kit vehicles (don’t know if that’s true or not mind...)

I do know that DVLA does not issue Q numbers these days, and hasn’t for years........

Plate is registered and shows against the correct vehicle, so it must be a private plate from a few years back.

DVLA issues ‘Q’ registration numbers to vehicles whose age or identity is in doubt.
If this happens, any original vehicle registration number will become invalid and you must not display it again.
To get a ‘Q’ registration number, your vehicle has to pass a type approval process

I have only EVER seen 2 in the passed, 1 on a kit car and 1 on a fiesta turbo

Q plates are still being issued, mainly to kit cars that are built not using new major parts, such as engine, gearbox, diff.
DVLA will also put a Q plate on a mass produced car if their is a discrepancy in its history, may been imported and paperwork lost.
Good part about Q plate cars is pre ‘74 emmision test at MOT time, only visible smoke test carried out.
    Here’s my Q plate Westfield —

Seen many but ive been involved in various motorsport activities for a long time now.

Used to be quite common on hillclimb, rally and irish tarmac cars.

That Evoque looks like its got a north american plate holder on so probably a LHD import.
