Hi I had my audi a3 sportback 1.4 engine for a couple of months and realised last night my rear right has a Puncher.

Do I need to take it to a specific audi or German garage for them to replace the tyre like for like?

I have the s Line version so got 19inch alloys I believe.

Also need the tyre to be balanced calibrated. Better off going to audi or kwik fit or just any garage down the road?

For reference, any tyre specialist will be able to help you. Audi recommend "AO" approved tyres, which are supposedly tyres tuned in some way for Audi's. Try mytyres, black circles etc to see what prices are like in the real world, and then try Audi to what it looks like when the dealer pulls your pants down.

You may also find its repairable;

If you've driven on it whilst flat, nobody will repair it. If the nail is too near tyre wall, nobody will repair it. Depends what tyres you have, Nobody stocks my Bridgestones in the uk. Audi gave me a quote via 'audicam' for two 17" Pirellis and tracking for my last A3 whilst it was in for warranty work, wanted £420 cheeky sods.
I've found Kwik-fit is cheapest around us if you buy on line. Cheaper than all the independents. Or you could risk it and buy a puncture repair kit on line with the sticky rubbery strings and plug it yourself for around £4.00 More of a get you home but I've used these in the past and the repairs have outlasted the tyre. First call would be find the nail and if its in the centre 3/4 of the tread and you haven't driven it whilst totally flat, local tyre fitters. Around £15-£20 for a repair, new valve and balance.

Hiya.

Yea i driven maybe 2 miles when it was flat. I only noticed it when i got home .

there was a warning indicator saying it was low in pressure whilst i was driving though.

I had the same error message when i was driving back home from cambridge. I noticed the error and stopped in the petrol station to check it out.

it wasnt flat but indeed a bit low(i think 19pbi or whatever the matric is) when it was advisable it should be something like 24 so i pumped it up and continued to drive and all was fine.

Then the other day when i start driving again the error showed up and when i expected it, it was flat....

I get all my tyres fitted by the Audi dealership.
Will never go to Kwikfit or the like ever after a couple of bad experiences with damaged alloys.
I get pride from various places and the dealership price match.
Less chance of damage and even if they do I know they'll be fixing it free of charge without a fight.

Did the tyre warning go off?

No need to take it to Audi.

The SLine has 18inch alloys as standard 225/40/R18

I have had a tyre repaired for a tenner. Any tyre depot will advise if the puncture is repairable and if there is any other damage to the tyre.

If the car is just a few months old then there should little wear on the back tyres. If a tyre was half worn I would replace both on the same axle.

What make and model of tyre is on the car?

My wife had a slow puncture in one of her original Dunlop SportMax tyres. It was a screw nail near the sidewall. I knew it was not repairable. My dealer explained that the tyres were not available from their supplier. So I did some research on tyrereviews.co.uk and asked him to get Goodyear EfficentGrip Performance as a replacement.

... £89.50 not as expensive as I thought.

Hi i tried calling a number of local places included kwik fit and none of them have my tyre!

225/R18/92Y T005

I don't know, they are both Turanza but haven't compared the tread pattern or spec to see if there are any differences.

Had this 3 weeks after picking up my 66 Audi A3 1.4.

Had the tyre pressure warning come on for rear left. Got to work and found a rusty nail in the tyre. Luckily it was in the centre of the tread pattern, so assumed be ok to repair. Called Audi Assistance lol (hey it was free) came to me within 15mins, said its repairable but they could not repair on site recommended a local tyre fitter.

Took it to the tyre fitter and they claimed the nail had damaged the tyre in three other places, pointing it to me, which i could not see any other damage. Decided to walk away, to there dismay.

I called local Audi dealership, "yeah bring it in" they said, i left it with them and was all repaired and back on the car for £12.00. No other damage done to the tyre.

Sometimes the dealer can be a good option.

crap.i kinda need my car to be up and running by tomorrow and my local audi dealer dont have any of the wheels in stock. It could be fixable, it could not be. its quit a drive to my local dealer for me to just find out if its repairable or not...

i could always ask the garage im going to tomorrow and see if they can repair me?

Also, does the Thread pattern need to be identical as it seems no one has T005?

It's certainly in a repairable area. If there's tyre crumb (powder) inside the tyre when they remove it you'll need to replace. This is caused by running it flat and a clear sign you've knackered it by driving it flat.
