Problems with remote key fob

My second remote key,which I never used until recently doesnt open doors .On 2003 A4 .
I changed battery but still doesnt work ......any suggestions ?

daft question but did you reset the fob, i changed my keyfob battery few weeks ago and had to put it in ignition turn till dash lights up/not start and that was it.
prob just needs recoding.

not a daft question at all ,as I didnt do as you suggested !
So I get it right open door manualy,put key in ignition .turn ignition on,but dont start engine,wait a couple of seconds,turn ignition off remove key ,get out of car and try fob ?

yes thats all i had to do.
battery only has to be out a couple of seconds and it needs recoding.
