Thinking of new plates as mine have the dealer I bought the car froms name in huge letter at the bottom.
I like pressed plates but would appreciate everyone's opinion on them or any other type of plates that look good?
    Cheers

Fitted them on my s4 and the wife's A1. Also using Audi-sport holders. Had the 3D gel ones on my previous A4 which I also liked.

It's a no from me. I think they look awful. Stick to the normal plates.

I had pressed on my B7, but have just left the dealer plates on the S4. Can't be bothered to change them.

Like @jdp1962 I have the standard dealer plates as the dealer name is in small writing at the bottom so not really noticeable. I'm guessing yours is more annoying @PB2.7TDI ? I've seen some where the dealer seems to have put some sort of rubber surround under the number plate with the dealer name in large letters.

    I quite like @GeoffDunk plates...

    De-badged and plates on!!

I don't think that these "modern plates" are much good, or even modern, usually they get fitted by monkeys and they use mild steel screws, so after a year or so, you end up with rusty trails and the bonus of the backing, which the numbers are on "delaminating" - maybe even ending up getting a mention at first MOT!

I thought that there was still, if plod/MOT were being picky, something wrong, or not completely correct about any of these pressed plates - I'd go for them anytime if it was not for that.

Though maybe if you are a Eurosceptic you would not like them?

I tried using the European standard backing/mounting assembly on my imported Passat and Polo - along with proper plastic UK plates - no good, plates slightly different size and material a lot thicker!

I quite like the shortened plates at the moment, you can get shortened in pressed and normal, I went for normal flat plates after years of running front pressed plates on my cars, and they just looked nasty and dirty after 1 year of stone chips.

MOT and gov only rules are they must have 11mm from digits to edge of plate and 33mm between the identifier and the random last 3 digits (bsa and post code marking too):
Mine have much more than 11mm all round, if I wanted I could make them shorter and slimmer! and still be legal :)

The below is 16inches, compared to the standard 20inches is 4 inches shorter.

Yes, I can see that that would happen, I still think what I worried about with these pressed plates was something regarding reflectivity or something like that, I've seen that quoted some where, that was after the character set was made correct away from the Germanic one.

    You can get 100%legal ones.
I used a company 'dubmeister' for the pressed plates on all my last cars, all reflective, correct lettering and spacing, bsa marked and manufacturer post code, if you take a picture with a flash and look at the image you can see it is very reflective.

I once had a run in with the cops on them when I was parked up, he told me they was illegal, I told him all the above, he shone lights on them and said 'You are completely correct, very sorry'.
    :)
Gone through years of MOTs aswell.

Would appreciate pics of short pressed plates on an avant if anyone has them please.
I've ordered a set of 420mm pressed plates from eBay so will see what the quality is like. Will probably save the front one until I order an rs4 grille..

Pressed plates look ****. I don't get it with people pretending they have German plates. Just stick with the legal normal plates.
