    Right then people, happy Monday!

Ive said for a while that I'd like to make a Vlog.

It's taken me a while to get going, but here's a first attempt!

If you're reading this, you probably already know a bit about the car, but please let me know what works, what doesn't, and if there is anything you'd like to see more of!

How does this entirely become profitable? It's a lot of effort to produce good content, and you can tell the difference between introductions and the technical descriptions as once you're describing the car the flow is far more relaxed and confident, whereas the introductions were a bit 'errmy' where you were trying to follow an exact script instead of being yourself. This is going to be an excellent project for you. You shouldn't put yourself down in the videos, I'm sure you will start spending more on the camera and sound equipment, there is probably a mic you can use that doesn't pick up passing cars.

Do you know what you have planned, like Sara-n-tune gives herself a maintenance task to do. What can you do as a prawn racing original 'thing' to finish the video off? Like always deal with a couple of 'planned' questions from fans? What about an occasional live broadcast at some point, like if you do a track day?

A little Rambly in places and maybe a little long. But most of the time very good. You are always doing stuff with the car so I am sure you can find plenty of content to fill the channel. What was wrong with the tyre pressures you didn't say ?.

Whilst thinking about the introductions feeling a tiny bit awkward compared to your confidence regarding the technical bit. Why not do the introductions to the cast last, this way instead of saying what it'll be about before you can introduce what is in it instead? We did this with a pod cast assignment for my son's media, the most difficult bit was starting but once the conversation started it flowed well (until a dog barked in the middle of it and we were trying to redo an important bit which sounded great the first time but unnatural afterwards)

I saw this on fb. I thought it was good and good detail about the engine and interior. Like how far it has come since you and your dad 1st went with the mini and and all that.
The confidence of talking in front of a camera will come as you do more video's.
What @Stuart B said about answering questions from your fans would be a good idea and more video's of ur track days also would be good.

Enjoyed the technical walk around. Well delivered.

Any improvements will come with you being more comfortable naturally with time. Don’t worry about it.

More driving like a hooligan please

For a first time ever in front of a camera I think you did extremely well. Very natural and easy. Practice will make perfect but not much improvement needed. You are a natural and very good on the technical aspects.
You come across as relaxed and very informative.

VERY proud of you. BBD OAO

Come on bigal, it's not good to think about - talking about your kin but we've all been 'infront of a camera' even if only for 30 seconds then deleted, it's on every bucket list. ;)

Why not go through some of your forum threads and create a vlog about some of those really specific items. People on the TT forum raised a question about 10 inch tyres at about the same time you were documenting yours and I pointing them to your thread as no-one else was posting about that level of customisation.

It should be like a weekly magazine?

What about getting some sponsorship (eg air filter, tip, turbo, engine internals, fmic etc etc) and doing a 'build along with me - 1.8T' series? Like Christmas dinner cook along

You could include a discount code or something, and that'll lead to referrer royalties.
Eg if 1000 of your subscribers uses a B5PRAWNTIP code they get a fiver off and you get some cash. You can say what's happening 'next week' so they can order the recommended parts. Plus you get to build another car for free :)

i thought the video was good, got a lot of information in about the car and what you have been through.
a suggestion for a video would be everything you do for a track day. I.e. prep, getting there and setting up, on board footage driving round the track and then maybe afterwards talking about how it went and if there was anything that needed improving or changing with the car or yourself.
might encourage others to go to a track day and try it out for themselves :icon thumright:

It would be cool to hear your experiences in particular areas regarding your build. Such as I remember you trying out about 4 million different brakes at one point, Porsche calipers etc. Be good to hear what you learnt from various trial and error parts to help other people avoid expensive pitfalls.

Hey Prawn! I've got a question regarding your silver project camber plates and OE bearing that you're using with them. Maybe a stupid question but I don't see how the OE bearing is helping with rotation.
If the shock piston is tightened to pillowball bearing together with OE bearing that means the piston will be stuck to the pillowball and the spring be pushing on the OE bearing. The shock with spring are going to spin around when turing while the piston isn't spinning, will this not damage the coilover?
I hope you understand what I'm talking about.

    Awesome thread btw!

    Hi Romka,

The piston rod on any coilover remains fairly static when turning. This doesn't damage the coilover at all.

The oe bearing is there to allow the spring to rotate as this does turn with the coilover body.

Without an upper bearing the Spring binds on the seat and makes some horrible sounds whilst turning.

With the bearing in the spring and upper spring seat are able to turn happily on the bearing and the nasty noises go away :)

If I understand correctly the piston rod is not supposed to rotate when turning? how come all the forum warriors say that it's bad for the seals inside the piston, for example impact gun should not be used because piston rod can rotate (if you know what I mean).

I think it's more the thought of banging them up with an impact gun that could potentially damage them, although if I'm honest I use an impact gun on mine and have never suffered

Despite this thread being damn near dead, I still find it useful. Just had to search back to find out what shims I fitted to the rear axle so I know what changes to make. Quick google of Prawn A3 shims brought up a full guide of what I did on page 65 :)

    Hey guys!

Alex - front to rear set up is constantly from track to track, and again for road use. As a rule of thumb I start dampers at 50% stiff front and 75% stiff rear then tweak from there.

AMJ: i don't think it'll ever be finished. SO much still to do, I think I'll still be going when I'm 50

Samuel: cheers man! Glad you're enjoying it :racer:

Did you replace the tyre valves on your wheels or just stick with them. The TPMS looks good and they are cheap enough on Fleabay to have a go just £18.
