Yeah I've got a new follower ready to go in. Going to go for the whole lot to be honest, I've already got the intercooler and the pipe's and hoses for a bargain really so may as well get the whole lot done before I drive down to RTech cos once it's remapped to Stage2+ I won't be going any further with it for the foreseeable once RTech have finished with it. Well if you already have it , fit it just saying you can save £1k on a new one if you didnt already have one.
Yeah course. Nah appreciate the advice mate. I figured I'd get the R8 coil packs just so I've got all new ones in cos I've only had the car 12 months and ok it's only done 34k miles but I figured may as well put fresh ones in along with the Iridiums for peace of mind and keep the current ones as spares. Ah ok cool, maybe not then. What else did you have to upgrade to get to 380bhp? Sent from my SM-N986B using Tapatalk
All you need is Pump CAI Large bore down pipe and cat DV+ (or a later upgrade std DV) Stg2+ software. Std IC has plastic fitting which can leek. R8 caps are the same as S3 but Red. I never did the DSG as i didnt find anything wrong with the stock map.
Yeah so I've either got or doing all those parts. I've got a DV+ but took it off as was having issues with it sticking. Just wondering why you originally said 360bhp but you've got 380bhp, so what did you do on top of what I originally listed or did you just get lucky? Sent from my SM-N986B using Tapatalk
stg 2+ varies depending on software. I think R tech tend to go for Torque rather than top BHP where as i use APR which is more BHP oriented. Its a balance between BHP and top end power or Bottom end and more torque and less Bhp.
Ah right I see. I'm not sure then, probably more torque I guess I'd prefer hence why I'm going for the FMIC. On a separate note, was it yourself who posted YouTube links of your Stage2+ S3 destroying everything at Santa Pod some time ago? I found some links on here once but couldn't find them again and forgot which thread they were on.. Sent from my SM-N986B using Tapatalk
No not me, there were quite a few very quick S3's on here a few years back but most have moved on now.
If you're aiming for high torque then you will definitely need the DSG remapped as the clutch packs will start slipping at around 500Nm (my stage 2+ S3 ran 540Nm)
Wow that's insane, 540nm! What sort of power and mods were you running with that? Sent from my SM-N986B using Tapatalk
Yes you see i got 480nm but i got 370bhp at 6k rising still to 381 at 7k where as a lot of maps drop right off at the top
MRC custom maps (ECU & TCU) for max torque and minimal lag, stock IC, rs4 valve, 100 Cell DP, Loba hpfp . I ran with the stock catback, intake and a samco maf to turbo pipe whilst I was stage2+. Power output was 340ps (between 5k and 7k rpm!) and 540Nm but this was on MRC's dyno which I consider to be more realistic than some of the others. Peak power was limited due to the intake but I had epic grunt low down. I'd been using them for over 10 years at this point and seen 100's of dyno runs, including a number of dyno days. It was very interesting watching some of the owners faces when their claimed power figures (from other dynos) didn't get close on the MRC dyno. A neighbour was running a DTUK tuning box on his almost new S3 8V and the claimed figures were 370ps but it only made 335ps on the MRC dyno, and another stage2+ S3 8P ran 33ops. You need to decide if you want low down grunt or top end power - as Paddy said, you can't have both on this platform.
Anyone recommend anywhere in North East that can gut my dpf and remap so it'll still pass a mot? Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
Hello everyone. What could be a good safe power to go to on 1.9Tdi bkc engine with stock parts (2004/12 3 door model without dpf) ? Also what is the weak point I should look out for (clutch, turbo, etc.)?
I personally wouldn’t tune an engine that has done 180k miles. Could lead to trouble. if anything you might get it back to it’s original output levels.
As far as I heard, 8 valve 1.9tdi PD engines last for a long time without problems. I just wanted to hear some people opinions about what safe power I could aim when I decide to get a proper dyno tune if I decide to do it.
