Your Tuner did 4 runs in 5 min - your intake temps have risen over 20% which will impact the results. Did he have a fan blowing into the front?

There does look to be a torque spike so it’s possible there is already a map (poor/underperforming?) on the car.

Noo idea bud problem about sa tuning is they dont let you see the car when its on the dyno, the dyno is surrounded by a soundproof shed and the close the doors because of noise complaints and i couldn't really hear a fan blowing too much outside noise.

I did replace by dv from the rev d back to the diaphragm type rev G it does seem to boost harder but indont plan on using sa tuning im gpimg to take it to AMD instead once ive decided whoch intake to buy, the revo or oversized ram air i want the moat air flow aswell as induction sounds

Don’t worry too much if you couldn’t see it in the rollers. I’d suspect he does have a fan but that’s an assumption. When I had my S3 mapped, originally by Unicorn then by R-Tech, I walked as far away as possible so I didn’t hear the (my poor) car screaming.

If you can, I’d recommend R-Tech for your map. That are the best as specialise in this engine.

As for intake, Revo is also my recommendation. I have the ceramic coated version but I’m not sure how much it reduces the heat soak. The RamAir is a lot cheaper but I had a RamAir on my previous A3 and the car ran like a bag of nails.

Yea i ment amd for dyno and 2alnut blasting as its closer only a 30 min drive as r tech is 2 hours away but will definatly use r tech for remaps, the revo filter isnt it abit small compared to others i get its the best flowing due to it being 1 peice meaning less interference/turbulance. And is there any benefit to a turbo mufler delete ?

Na nothing wrong with the revo. Re the muffler-delete, I'm not too sure - I'd be keen to know too as I was thinking of this and the other charge pipes but I don't know how/if it would impact the map.

    2011 s3 hatchback dsg

    Militek downpipe with sports cat
    Res delete
    Ramair intake

Before 271bhp 280ft (with mods on)
    After 314bhp 310ft

Bit disappointed tbh was hoping to get around 325. Mapper said the cat was getting hot so that limited the power.[IMG]

Its not all about the peak figures though.
You have a nice smooth BHP line and the Torque hits 300 and holds it for 2000 revs
Your 2011 S3 will have an IC with plastic ends. when i got mine mapped it produced 350 bhp so i changed the IC to a wagner and got 381 bhp , those original IC's can and do leak boost in my experience.

Yeah you are right there, after a few spirited drives I can see that the drive is completely transformed. I have a stage 1 tts with the same engine and this feels much more aggressive.

I'll have a look at the IC, maybe a hpfp and decat at a later point if I'm chasing some willy waving peak figures.

That's a bit disappointing to me, not sure why mine is under powered. I have a res delete on my TTS and the exhaust is so much louder so I'm not sure what's going on with the exhaust.

Don't worry too much different dynos can read upto 20bhp difference on the same car. At least your mapper backed the settings off due to the high EGTs.

I had mine mapped a fews years back at Torquetronix and was a great experience. The day I went there was an issue with the dyno boxes - he uses boxes instead of rollers but one needed a service and he was worried about stressing the diff so unfortunately no print out. He said from experience of tuning the same engine it will run around 210-215bhp. As an apology for no print out he installed a launch control and rev match going up the gears once you go above 3.5k?? Mine is FWD but, clutch in foot to the floor and it will bounce at 3.5k then clutch out and you are away....I can get off the mark quicker with 210 than i could with 170 whatever way the diff works. Torque through the roof and mpg increase also. Haven't had any issues with the engine and I tend to put the boot to the back of the headlights. The biggest difference I noticed was the smoothness in acceleration - almost drives like a petrol. Pace wise it is night and day, I've passed MK7.5 GTD on hills which isn't bad for the old girl!

    Hi guys.
I'm planning on going stage 2+ once the corona is over. I currently have a 3" downpipe and then I just have a res delete and standard back box.

Would it be worth me getting a cat back for a bit more flow or would I be fine with what I've got?

    Thanks

You'll be fine with the std cat-back - in reality they offer very little performance improvement (but a nice improvement in sound). Don't forget the RS4 valve and of course the hpfp. You may want to consider an intercooler to, especially if you have a facelift car as the oem IC has plastic end tanks that are known to leak.

Thanks, decided to get one anyway will sound better Bertrand may get a small performance increase. Now I need to decide between a custom one or a cobra one

Yeah I've got the hpfp and rs4 valve already just need to fit them...

I've already got the downpipe and sports cat (going decat though) I was quoted 440 for custom with longlife north west or a 445 not fitted for cobra... first world problems I guess.

I was looking at a longlife exhaust but they wanted to use 2.5" pipe rather than a 3", claiming that 3" would rob performance?! They also couldn't guarantee it wouldn't drone. I ended up fitting a resonated Milltek system - nice deep burble on tickover, fairly oem sound on light throttle but loud enough to turn heads on WOT. And no drone either.

I was just thinking about that was initialy gona go for the bcs 3.5" which is like 600 for a decat and the trackslag is half of that in cost

I got 350 stage 2+ APR std inter cooler and 381 stg 2+ with Wagner inter cooler a week later . This is not so much to do with cooling, its just the stock inter coolers dont flow the air because they fill with oil over the years and leak at the joints especially the later plastic ended ones.
Remember a map tuned for Torque will probably be quicker in every day use than a map tuned to produce max power at 7k rpm anyway

    PS
that 381 bhp is on an APR down pipe and sport cat and a std exhaust.
The std exhaust will flow more than enough under 400bhp and its the down pipe and sport cat that gives you the nice noises anyway..

Got my '12 S3 Sportback DSG Dyno'd today for the first time, went to Unicorn as it's local.

So far I've only fitted the excellent Racingline Performance CAI and BCS TBE WRC (3" straight system) /w 72mm downpipe and 100 Cell race-cat. Was therefore pleasantly surprised to see the car is producing over 290bhp.

    Mods coming soon:
    - Airtec Stage2 FMIC
    - Full set of silicone hoses for intercooler and radiator.
    - Bar-Tek charge pipes (Both Turbo Outlet Pipe and Turbo Throttle Pipe)

Getting these fitted up here in Manchester asap before a trip to RTech next year where I'm getting:

    - APR HPFP /w 165 bar FPRV
    - R8 Coilpacks
    - Iridium Coils
    - Maybe Runner Flap Delete (not sure yet)
    - Full tuning service, injector clean and decoke.
    - Stage2+ ECU/DSG remaps.

Any other bits anyone recommends, except for a TTE420, already got a mate trying to sell me his. Think that may be a bit too far down the rabbit hole
    Predictions on final power/torque figures?

You dont need R8 coil packs..you need a Loba fuel pump and you will be at 360bhp with what you have and an APR stg2+
Intercooler not really needed unless your old one is leaking.

What's the difference with the LOBA fuel pump Vs the APR one. I'm getting that part and the intercooler and charge pipes off a friend who is parting his S3 for cheap so don't have much choice unless I want to buy them brand new, and these have hardly done any miles.

Seems your recommending I only go Stage2 and not Stage2+ with the intercooler, why?

I didn't think RTech used APR remaps and it's all custom. Seen a few forum users get more than 360 at RTech so hoping for a little more if possible.

APR pump will be fine, just use a new follower.
Go Stg2+, you dont need an intercooler for that. You can add one later if you need it but unless the std one is leaking there is no need to change it. I ran std with stg 2+ APR and bought a Wagner later.
