Post Pics Of Your A3/S3 8v In Here

Got the S3 back from the body shop this week after nearly six weeks. They had the S3 almost as long as we owned it when it got walloped !

Her indoors away at a gig today, perfect time for modifications without the watchful eye

OEM RS3 grille fitted. Removal of bumper was straightforward. Grille was a perfect fit although some modifications to the tabs around the grille were needed. Not for the faint hearted !

Thanks to @8YARWY for the grille

Fitted Maxton front splitter and side diffusers. Gave the rust looking front hubs a coat of paint and repainted the front brake callipers from black to red. Ran out of time to do the rear wheels.

Also fitted some OEM Audi sport number plate holders, was hoping to put the personalised plates on but still waiting for the new V5C from the DVLA which is frustrating

All in all a productive day, took far longer than I estimated though and definitely a two man job. Also note that the YouTube videos regarding the grille swap don’t show the tab modifications needed .

Overall I’m really happy with the look of the car now, more aggressive but subtle as well !

With the addition of the skirt kit, IMO the wheels now look even more "tucked" so I would suggest some spacers :)

Other than that, looks well!

Had tinkered with that idea. Never used spacers before though, I guess I’d need longer wheel bolts if I went for spacers ? Fitted aftermarket wheels to our previous A3 and the bolts they supplied didn’t play well !

Any recommendations on spacer size / manufacturer ?

Yeah you will need longer bolts - check out Bimecc, H&R or Forge for hubcentric spacers

Depending on offset of your wheels will determine the size but I think with 18's, you will be safe 10mm all round each wheel. Are you planning to lower?

Still in warranty so no plans on lowering yet . Like the idea of spacers though. Do they give any difference in the feel of the drive ?

Considering a stage 1 map once we’re out of warranty, just the fuel economy putting me off. Spending a fortune on V Power at the moment

You wouldn't notice handling much but will look better

The map could help with economy depending how you drive - my S3 is Stage 3 so 480bhp or there abouts, still able to return upwards of 350 miles per tank if I am really sensible, normally its 300-320 miles but I have a 50 mile daily commute

Try different fuel too. My s3 loved vpower, misfired on Tesco super unleaded, and BP. My current a5 252 is laggy and slow on vpower but runs like a dream on Tesco super and Texaco supreme 99. If you buy used you never know what map you have, and there seems to be some variation between standard ones as well as the ****** software updates. I was reading earlier how early TTRS' were nice and loud and an "eu update" made them quieter.

Personally I can't wait to get back into an 8v. My a5 tried to kill me again earlier (pre sense warning + did an emergency stop by itself. What triggered this? I went over a 2 lane bridge and some traffic was coming the other way. Fortunatly the tipper driver behind me wasn't tailgating me and was switched on, or my dog who was in the boot in his basket would probably be dead now). ******* EU "safety" features.

Dropped a deposit on an s3 today, don't want to post it properly until I have paid the full amount etc, but here's a teaser. Panther black...what I should have bought originally and has alluded me whilst I went through Brilliant Black and Mythos Black cars (see sig).

Insurance is the same as my A5...result.

And all set... but typically raining or overcast so been unable to get a pearlescent pop shot

I just want to enjoy this. All I want to do is retrofit folding mirrors, auto hill hold and enjoy it. Signing up for the £700 audi pack which gives you two years warranty, servicing and MOT's as I don't know the car well enough to trust being warrantyless, but this means no modifications. Eventually I would like to do MSS springs, because magride is excellent, swap from Pirelli's to something else that aren't as noisy (Michelins?) and then stage 1 Unicorn map + tcu + l380x + intake pipe/elbow + sport cat + fmic. Which seems perfect for these... 440hp/400lb/ft with minimal lag. But honestly...I am just enjoying it now. I need to do something about the subwoofer on the shelf, it's resonating with something, I think there's a dust guard under it that needs removing.

I also want to get a valve controller so I can turn the exhaust valves to open when I want and then normal. My last s3 had a res delete (with no anti drone) and permanently open valves and it was annoying at times but even valved it boomed very loud on boost. This is far more civil and I don't think I will be touching the resonator. This car doesn't even exhaust bang on upshift unless in dynamic which is great for stealth overtakes. In Comfort you can't even hear the exhaust which is lovely.

I also want to get the haldex/gearbox oil changed and filter(s) cleaned because I've read that Audi don't do it and it's approaching 30k miles.

But really it's like a brand new car. It's done almost 30k but my old s3 had only done 15k and this one is far nicer to drive and sit in.

My first post on here since 2014

Been driving Range Rovers over the last few years and then moved back into an office job back in May so needed something a bit more "frugal" and ended up with this 2014 2.0 tdi Sportback S-Line.

Liking it so far, just needs a few little bits updating like Carplay and is due a service soon.

Haven't been online for quite some time. Decided to sell my long loved A3 8V. Going to be a difficult one to let loose, it was my first fat specced S-Line with low milage so it has a special place :). Luckily it's not going far, my in-laws bought it off me so I'm leaving the 8V sub-forum. It's been a pleasure ha ha ha :D

My new 8Y is still in production in Ingolstadt, Germany and should be with me around March... can't wait :).

Picked up this '67 plate S3 yesterday. I've owned an A3 in the past but never anything this sporty. Loving it so far!

Belter , have you got front tints? If so what % ? I was booked in this week but was to worried about the repercussions of being in accident and invalidating my insurance‍
I do not have front tints. Currently there is 20% factory stained windows all the way around. I will be getting 5% all around with a visor strip as well here soon. If you get your windshield tinted, just do a lighter tint so it doesn't obstruct your view, like a 50% or something light.

if your in the UK, front driver / passenger side windows have to be at least 70% of visibility through it and windscreen at least 75%.

The standard tinted glass from the factory will be close to the limit of 70% as it is not clear plain glass. So applying any type of tint will make it non legal.

It will not fail an MOT like a mis-spaced reg plate as simply MOT testers do not have the kit to test the glass.

The % on films is the film not the additional glass it’s applied to so is misleading.

Obviously the darker you go and how you drive dictates whether the rozzers will pull you.

Does make the car look nice tho :)

Looks a very example .
What year and mileage is it
Does it have the SS seats
Thanks it's a 2016 with 40k on the clock, it's very clean for it's age! No it does not have the SS seats unfortunately just full leather standard S3 seats, but the leather looks like it's not been sat in

That is low mileage for its age mines a 2019 and as done 36k

Have been itching to upgrade the alloys for a while now and managed to get a set of 19" OEM Y spokes at a good price. Need new tyres but couldn't resist a test fit at the weekend to see how they would look.
