hi there
Just wondering if anyone can throw a little advise my way.
A few weeks ago I was driving and hit a pothole, immediately after the car start jerking and spluttering like it was missing.
Over the next few days the problem got worse. Then on the motorway when doing about 80 the car lost power and dropped down to about 25 mph, no EMS lights on the dash, managed to get it home but every time I stopped the car would take a few seconds to engage, would bang and jerk like crazy then it started to move.
Now when I put it in drive and press the accelerator the Rev counter barely moves and and neither does the car, the revs will then jump up and down then after a while the car will jerk and bang then start to move a little.
Plugged it into a diagnostic machine and no errors came up.
Pls help
2006 Audi A4 Sline

Thanks

These Multitronics are notoriously troublesome .You need specialist help.Hope its not too bad

Possible that the clutch has destroyed itself with hitting the pothole? Doubt it would though. Defo gearbox problem though.

Would the pothole bang do that to my gearbox?

Also does an automatic have a clutch?
Sorry I'm a lil car clueless here ;)

Yes it does,as for your diagnosis was this done with vcds or just a cheapo,as the cheapo`s dont throw up all the errors, where are you from, maybe someone close to you that has vcds could scan your car properly.

When the car is in park, does it rev smooth and freely

Not sure what tests were done on the car, waiting for a call back from gear torque in Wigan to do a full diagnostics.
As for the car in park, just tested and it's slow to respond, plus even with the pedal to the floor it doesn't go above 2000 revs.
But then all of a sudden it may bang and kick in

That doesn`t sound good,i think you need someone with vcds to check whats going on,+did you check that all the pipe work is still connected,i`e intercooler and turbo pipes

Hi Chris
Nope not checked the pipes
Would I be able to see them from the top of the engine or need to delve underneath?
So hope it's not a new gearbox or its adios Audi

Whilst you are awaiting to get the fault diagnosed I would be getting pictures and evidence of the pot hole that did the damage as you maybe claiming off your local council for damage caused.

Yes should be able to see the pipes, and what caricall has said get some pics of the hole before council fills it in

Don't think I'll have much luck with the pothole and the council.
It's more like road collapsing as if there's a mine shaft underneath. They fixed it maybe 6 months ago but it's sinking again.
So not a hole exactly but a sharp dip

I'm over Wigan way, where is this pot hole so i can avoid it! JJ's VW Audi centre near the range in Wigan would be the best place to take it for repair as they're specialists. My dad takes his Q7 and RS5 there and I had my A4 in a while back.

It's that big dip in the road just past Wigan college, opposite the Linacre hospital.
Trust me an Audi with hard suspension isn't it's best friend.
I got told gear torque up westhhoughton were decent.
£45 for diagnosis and he reckons he will know the exact fault

Just spoke to JJs
Only £20 for the diagnostic so booked it in Tuesday
