Poor Fuel Economy

Hi I've got a 2000 A3 tdi 110hp non pd. The fuel economy is ****** awful 30mpg at best. Have got vag commander but not installed it yet. Car runs fine as far as I can tell no misfires or judders pulls okay for a 110 tdi.
Anyone got any ideas i was thinking cat. It's been serviced a couple of weeks ago all genuine filters and oil etc...

That's nearly the same as my S3 26.3 mpg

Yeah had a passat with the similar 110 hp engine that would 70mpg when the Mrs drove it even i could get 60 odd
