Hi
I have just purchased an 09 A3 Sportback 1.9 TDI. Inside currently it has the Audi Concert unit, but I would like to upgrade to the RNS-E unit, mainly for the sat-nav, but also because I understand it is possible to get wireless bluetooth audio playback on the unit. However in order to do this I have been told you have to place a bluetooth adapter in as well. I was just wondering if you answer a few questions for me.
Firstly is the unit compatible with the A3?
Secondly, I already have bluetooth in the car with a built in hands free phone system fitted by audi that is operated via the steering wheel controls, does this mean I have to fit the bluetooth adapter as well? or is the current bluetooth set-up sufficient for wireless audio playback? If I do have to fit the bluetooth adapter will it affect the current bluetooth system in the car?
Similarly if fitted correctly will the steering wheel controls on the car be able to work in tandem with the new unit? Eg volume control, etc
Finally, I am competent working on the more mechanical side of the car but this is my first real venture into the internal electronics of the car, although I have fitted stereos before in previous cars. Is this the type of job I can do myself or will it require me taking the car to a specialist?
I have uploaded some pictures so that you can see the current set-up in my car.
Thanks a lot
Will
