Piston ring

was just having a nosey at the s3's for sale as I do every now and again,came across one that is listed with rebuilt engine at a cost of over 3k due to a leaking piston ring ? Apparently is a common lroblem with the tfsi engine! Now I had never heard that before has anyone else?how would you no your piston ring is leaking ?

Haven't heard of it as being a common issue with TFSI engines......

Lack of compression on that particular cylinder - compression test.

Although, I believe some engines were prone to excessive oil consumption......possibly down to failure of piston rings. So yeah, perhaps....

A number were/are prone to drink a bit of oil,but no-one I know has had failed piston rings.

I had never heard of failed piston rings either
