    Hi,

looking at doing some mods to my PFL car. I already have Milltek secondary decats and lowering springs. I am hoping to head up to MRC once possible, have already emailed but I'm not expecting a response anytime soon. My plan is to try and make the car slightly more engaging, these are the things I'm considering.

    1) Lightweight wheels
    2) H&R anti roll bars
    3) Intake (this is more for noise, and i imagine a very small performance increase)

Id appreciate any recommendations for any of the above, especially the intake, thinking about the Revo carbon one

    Thanks,
    Dan

Isn’t the consensus that you should only do the rear antiroll bar to keep the car balanced? I could be talking poop.

Can recommend the following wheels. £970 I paid and they are 8.9kg each in 8.5j 19’s. Motec ultralights. They do them in bronze, gold, light grey, and 2 types of black.

Unless the ARBs are adjustable, I'd concur with others and just get the rear one done. With both you end up with less roll but the same handling balance as a standard car i.e. understeery. A pair of adjustable bars at least allow you to set the rear one stiffer...

Those were one of my options. Along with a couple from neuspeed, the rse102 and rse10. Where did you get them from ? Seems like a good price.

    Thanks

Ebay sets do come up from time to time.
When I did my PFL (one of the first at the time in collaboration with @DJAlix ) I sourced the parts via a main dealer, back then they where £450 just for the 4 clusters.

    2 ways of connecting them

    1) direct wiring of which @DJAlix is your man.

    2) plug and play modules available online

Cheers for the reply chap. Yeah I wouldn’t want to pay that much from a main dealer!! Would hopefully like to get hold of some via eBay or the likes. Do you reckon this guy could source me some then and have the wiring ready to plug and play?

As a genuine limited company I don't source or supply any used parts due to 1) lability and 2) warranty. I cannot underwrite anything I don't know the true history of so I only source genuine OEM new parts direct from VW Group. With regards to PnP wiring, this is something I don't offer as all these looms and modules are made as cheap as possible and I don't believe in adding a potential point of failure to any vehicle. If you are in or around North London I can supply, OEM fit and code new FL flights, OEM fit and code your own parts or just code your own installation. As an example if you were to bring me all the needed parts I would perform an OEM wiring installation for £165.00.

Thanks for the information chap, that’s put it into simple terms for me and I know exactly how it is. The only trouble is I’m not around the north London area and far from it! I’m based in Nottingham, I would like to try and source some for as cheap as I possibly can but still have a good quality set.

Lights you will be able to find on Ebay etc used from approx £350 per set. Crappy wiring looms and modules start from £80 and range up to £300. No problem with people looking to do things on a budget but my advise would be please don't think about trying to do a "bargain basement" mod on a £30k+ vehicle, especially where vehicle electrics and indeed safety are involved. Totally understand if you cannot get to me but would suggest you find a more local professional who can fit any parts you supply correctly.

Any I should be looking at in particular if you know what I mean? I understand you fully mate and I definitely wouldn’t do anything like that, with regards to putting and using substandard parts! I just naturally want to pay as less as I can of course. It would be quite a stretch to come just for some coding wouldn’t it, although I’m sure it would be worth it. Surely there would be something closer to me which could offer this service?
With regards to wiring looms/modules. Are these still needed if you go down the coding route?

Lights wise you need to correct OEM units for your vehicles chassis, and yes there are 3rd party copies now available but they are S***!

Connection wise you only have the following options:

    -Plug and Play modules.
-Semi Plug and Play modules, which will need coding.
-Wiring Adaptors, which will also need coding.

Coding alone cannot be used to complete this retrofit.

I have customers from all over the EU who visit me regular so visiting me in London is only a stretch if not something convenient for yourself :) Most will drop their cars off and pop in to London and do the tourist thing.

Personally if I was you I’d make the trip down to North London. ALEX hard wired my light on my pre fl, one less thing to worry about when you get it hard wired instead of having a sh#ty Chinese module fitted to you pride and joy.

Haha okay, where would you say is the best place to get them from then chap? Any in particular I should be looking at? How easy are they to install?

Also, going back to the facelift rear lights. Is that what price you charge for fitting and sorting all the electricals out? Could you source them aswell?

eBay or AliExpress for the Mirror Turning Signals.

As for the FL rear lights I ask £165.00 to complete an OEM style retrofit as long as the customer is supplying all the needed parts, ie the light clusters and the connectors. I can source any new VW Group parts. The last time I performed the retrofit, supplying and fitting all needed parts, I believe the cost was approx £800.00. Pricing changes however so if interested I would need to raise a new quote.

Nice one chap, I’ll have a look at getting some of those ordered now. Are they fairly easy to fit then?

Jesus!! See I wouldn’t want to pay that much, I need to keep my eyes peeled on eBay for some I think chap.

Cannot comment on how easy something is to fit as I don't know what tools and experience you have. If you don't do your research its gonna be very easy to break a lot of the mirror caps securing tabs and indeed the mirror glass itself.

You are living in the world of Audi now, especially as you have a premium RS3. Audi parts are not cheap and retrofits need to be completed properly otherwise you WILL experience issues at some stage. I have a customer who fitted used rear clusters from Ebay using a cheap wiring loom. His lights never worked as they should he tells me, add to this that he did not notice that one unit was cracked and was letting in water which caused a short, and the vehicle now has a number of issues. Have another with a Golf GTI mk7 who wanted mk7.5 rear lights and purchased Chinese plug and play copies from AliExpress, which were not actually plug and play so the cost of the fitting was more.... and as they are poorly made copies every time he puts his foot on the breaks he looses radio reception lol. Waiting for lockdown to ease so I can get these guys in to replace / reinstall everyone as genuine items.

Not too bad I suppose haha, I’ve removed trim before on wing mirrors and I’ve recently fitted a cete valve controller which required trim and panel removing. Was okay with that, but I know it may be a little fiddlier on the wing mirrors. Do you happen to have a link for some wing mirror modules please?

I understand fully where you’re coming from! I’ll look to get some decent ones on eBay hopefully and keep in touch with you when I do so. If I do so haha.

There should be a guide within the A3 forum. I think its more geared towards a folding mirrors retrofit but part of said retrofit is to remove the mirror caps. If you have complete similar works then you should have the tools and should have no trouble with this. Just allow yourself enough time and don't rush anything and I am sure all will be ok :)

I don't source parts from online auction sites etc, only from trade suppliers and VW Group direct so have no links I can supply.

Cheers, I’ll have a look for that then. Yeah definitely, I have the correct trim removal tools so I’ll just take my time.

Okay chap, well if I find some and show you the link, could you confirm they will fit and be the rights ones?

Look pretty standard but something to note is that these come in three versions:
    • Clear
    • Frosted
    • Tinted
Due to the tints, the ones you have linked, the light output of the turning signals is reduced a fair amount and can look strange compared with the brightness of the vehicles other lights, its all a personal preference however. I have frosted on my own "white" car and the output is the same as clear / stock OEM.

Okay chap thanks. How will I know whether they’re one of the 3 though? The clear, frosted or tinted? What are the ones I have currently found and what sort of price should I expect to pay for some?

I think I’ve found some rear lights for the car too! Got the left side anyway. I’ll show you the link if it’s okay?
