Part No. 8P0 862 335 D Bluetooth

Hey,

I recently bought the following BT unit to use with my RNS-E:-
Part No. 8P0 862 335 D

Unfortunately I was dumb enough to pay £230 for it...

I've heard lots of people say that you only get limited functionality with this unit but i've searched high and wide and can't find out what people mean by that.

Does it mean that I will be able to get my blackberry pearl to communicate through it or not?

Is it just the simbook reading and dialling from the RNS-E that won't work? If so, I don't really mind. As long as I don't have to hold the phone up to my ear anymore I'll be happy!

Please if you have any experience with this let me know...I've got everything I need to install it now and want to know if it's worth the bother...

If you are refering to the Audi bluetooth kit that links to the RNS-E then this provides full functionality, its the phones that are the problem!

Some drop the bluetooth connection every minute or so like my Samsung U600.

Some are fine like Sony Ericssons others like the Nokia N series dont show any phonebook details up on the screen it depends what phone you have.

Normally all my Sony Ericssons have been fine however my new K850i wont show any missed/dialled or received calls up on the screen which is a pain cause I have to scroll through the phonebook to make a call which takes time.

If you got the kit in full for £230 then I would say this is a fair price!

I would recommend joining the www.navplus.us forum and then searching for your answer. If you can't find the answers there then you will likely not find it anywhere.

That forum is run and maintained by some very clever people who seem to know all there is to know about the RNS-e and its' associated accessories.

As far as I am aware the D version doesn't support many phones and the general consensus is that is is not worth fitting as you are unlikely to get it to pair with any phone that is newer than 3 or 4 years old.
