Parking sensors - are mine faulty?

Just wondering if my parking sensors are faulty as I dont get any warning when reversing near something. I get one beep when putting the car into reverse but that's all.

Do they need turning on?

it's telling you there's a fault of some description. you really should have thought about that before you bought the car! sensor problems can be expensive to fix and who knows the car might have lost an argument with a lamp post causing the fault
