The parking sensor switch has just packed up on my A6. The parking sensors work fine and turn on/off automatically when reverse is selected but I can no longer turn them on/off with the switch. Has anyone had the same issue? Is it any easy job to replace the switch? Anyone know how much the stealers charge for a new switch?

Had this situation.
Mine was salvageable so I've just dug it out and glued it together.
Don't think it would be expensive from dealer but it is tricky to remove centre air vent.
Seen some YT tutorials and rest was common sense of parts removal. Not a major job.

Hey Steve,
Did you managed to source the button and replace it?

Mine clunked again today.
Need to get new one as suspect it will be properly in pieces by now.

Still haven't had the time to get to the dealers to get a new one yet.

Just rang Audi West London and the switch is £19.31 incl. vat.

Ordered one for myself to collect tomorrow.

Would you like me to order and get one posted to you?

You can also order via the Parts Request tab at the top of the page. Usually discounted for forum members :racer:

Been trying that last night but on the tapatalk and could not see the new part request so rang the local stealer.

This way I can have it tomorrow and fitted right away.

Thanx anyway

Thanks for the offer mate it's much appreciated, but I should manage to get to the dealers to get one in the next few weeks, will tie in when I will have the time to replace it. The local dealer is only about 3 miles from my house just haven't been around during the opening hours.

Done mine.

After taking the centre air vent out, button just popped out split in half

It was still working but because it split, button wasn't touching the switch.
I could easily take it out and glue it again but had already OEM replacement

You can tell it is a new piece as colour shade does not match. I'm not fussed.
Done is done and I'm chuffed

Same time done some ignition switched wiring for TomTom and phone charger.
Will be making separate thread about it if someone is interested.

Btw Steve, found it best to insert 2 removal tool's (hooks) in the holes, one on each centre air vent wall (left / right) to best remove it.
Once hooked up, give it tug and it'll come out.
Than, you need to unclip the trim from the car key trim part. Lower your steering wheel and with same hooks you can just pull it slightly.

Will change the button back to the original one I had, as glued it back together again and OCD tells me to. LOL

Thanks for the info mate, took mine to pieces over the weekend and found the same issue as you. Glued it back together and it's working perfectly now.

Got an idea how to reenforce the switch so as soon as I do it, I'll fit it back also.

OCD made me to put back in the old repaired switch

All good now.

Reinforced the glue with 25kg fishing line and it's stronger than ever.
