My car is now four and a half years old and well out of warranty as far as paint is concerned.

However, I started noticing little bumps and bubbles in the paint work along the sides and on the tail gate. They look very similar to the pictures I've seen of the gutters.

Went up to the local stealer and was basically told that this would cost me about £1500 as the car is out of warranty. "****** that" I said, "I'll be phone up the paint companies to tell them you're claiming that contamination on the surface prior to painting is their fault?"

Finally they agreed to let their paint specialist look at it, meantime I got three paint inspectors from work to give their view. Osmotic Blistering is the technical term for it. It's caused by tiny specs of water (even breathing) on the surface breaking the galvinising down.

Audi called me up last week to say there was an independant guy coming to look at it. So, I went back up to the local stealers full of new knowledge to impress the guy, and guess what? He completely disagreed with Audi's original verdict! They called me today to get the back and both sides repainted at their expense! Total score!

what a total result. nice one man.

Yeah?
Wait until it's been painted and you've seen the results...assuming it's the Aberdeen bodyshop it's going.

I wouldn't let them paint my fence.

They messed up my mates car...and he works for them.

They painted the back bumper of my ex's A2...and made a botch of that too...

they agreed to paint the drivers side of my car to get rid of a small blister (there from new) low down on the rear quarter...I declined, and left it alone.

I'd rather have perfect original paint with a blemish...

Just be really careful...and check their work soooo well...honestly...you have got to watch them...

looks like some traditional film pictures of the before shots are in order then ...

That's exactly where it's supposed to be going. I haven't booked it in yet...

Their servicing dept. sucks so I was somehow prepared for the worst.

Thanks for the headsup /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yeah...they do.
They managed to scratch all 4 of my nice newly fitted RSIIs...then had the cheek to tell me they were painted in the wrong paint...that's why they got scratched.

A statememt along the lines of "I'll see you in court" soon had the compensation flowing...and apology forthcoming.
Idiots.

Just let them know you're picky and won't stand for a sub-standard normal job...
And shout and ball if things don't go your way.

I'll be taking several of Shell's top paint inspectors along with me to check the results (perks of the job /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif). They're the ones that told me to do something about it in the first place.

As for shouting and balling, you should have heard me when they took a burring disc to the face (not the lip) of my brand new rear discs to try and cure squeeling pads. They're not a dealership I have trust in.

Have had my old indigo blue Golf GTI into their body shop and when I picked the car up there was a load of silver paint splattered over the side, they told me it was the mettalic paint /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif. They decided to paint it again but the same thing again, covered in splatter, eventually on the third hit they got it right.

My mate put his new A3 in when he bumped it in winter, it's painted in misano red and when he picked it up it was dark but the next day he noticed what they had painted was a completly different shade of red.

Personnaly I would never let them do any work on my car again
