Batwad, I have nothing against double glazing on new builds, just on beautiful old houses. So many really nice old Victorian houses completely ruined by cheap plastic crap.
1. It looks awful, the proportions of the windows are all wrong as the frames have to be twices as thick to give them any strength
2. It suffocates old houses, as they are designed to breath so you end up with damp problems.
3. To have a house hermetically sealed is just plain unhealthy
4. Cheapskate homeowners replace beautiful sashes with the really ****** UPVC windows which either don't even open or have one tiny window at the top that opens about an inch.

Funny an Escort Cosworth isnt just an Escort with a big engine its a totally different car from the ground up.

I do think German cars are overrated and customer / owner opinion polls seem to support this. Mercedes now theres a top quailty brand.

Lol you need to let the cooling fan cycle once if you have ragged the car if you havent taken it easy for a couple of minutes prior to turning the engine off in order to prevent the residual heat in the engine from boiling the oil this is adviseable on any turbocharged car its not Cosworth specific .

Why do you think so many companies offer turbo timers for all makes of cars and have you ever wondered why the fan on your A4 runs sometimes after you have turned the ignition off

And as for rebuilding your YB, there about 8 derivatives of the YB engine dependant on what car the engine was fitted to, know what yours is do you?

I've probably forgotten more about motor vehicles than you ever knew, i worked on cars since I was a kid, did 3 years at college after leaving school then went on to work for several garages, including an engine rebuilder opposite Fords in dagenham. I think that qualifies me as knowing a bit about the reciprocating piston engine the follows the otto cycle.

Why dont you wikipedia some of that then, know it all? Maybe you might want to look up stoichiometric ratio's while your at it, because on the old cosworth BDA engine (that i don't know anything about) a vacuum gauge had to be used to set the correct mixture.

Easily. There's nothing in the BHP stakes but the Escort may be a bit quicker to 60 due to the fact its made of old kitkat wrappers and the S3 is made of steel.

Everyone says they had the RS200 block in their car, they mostly ********.

There were very few RS200's made and they are as rare as rocking horse ****, so having the engine from one in your escort cosworth is about as likely as NASA landing on the sun.

Why would you take the engine out of your new escort cosworth and replace it exactly? did it blow up? now that would be unusual.

The engine in my sapphire was the engine that came with the car, I did however have an RS500 block sitting in my garden that I was going to fit into it, but never bothered. Sold it to a friend of mine. I did however make an alloy water/air intercooler to fit into the car to keep the charge air temperature down, that was a good addition.
