Ok so every review i read or comment on a Youtube review, whinges about how for 55K with options that the Rs3 isnt worth it..yet a new M2 with DCT and comfort pack is about 54K yet i dont hear the same people whining about how that is overpriced when a vanilla Rs3 at 44K is as powerful?

Is it that people look down on RS3s or that the M2 has some kind of faux prestige?

Most of the moaning about price I've seen is from PFL owners who cannot get over the fact the FL doesn't pop and bang every second they drive it........

RS3 very well priced imho. That engine not available from anyone else so they could charge a premium for it but don't. May not seem great vfm vs the similar performance of a S3 however the RS3 is more than the sum of its parts imho.

In all cases it's always the better deal

    Vanilla car Vs vanilla car

RS3 (44k) beats pre FL M2 (48k) in both performance and practicality

Vs new M2 (50k) equals performance beats on practicality

So for same price as a new auto M2 plus comfort pack I could get an RS3 with 10k of extras that would beat the BMW in every department other than maybe looks and driving experience.

Still can't see why the reviewers and commenters say it's overpriced for what it is. Seems like an amazing deal to me..which is why I picked it over the BMW. :)

Can you use the M2 all year round with our English weather..... not really

Then wait until you sit on one........interior is shocking.

Always makes me laugh how people defend the M2..... but never buy one and get an RS3 or similar instead.

Go look at the specs of the RS FL engine...... it’s very well engineered and some say actually well over engineered.

Also the weather factor. Like any M car (maybe apart from new M5) the weather has to be pretty much perfect to fully exploit the performance on offer. In any model of RS it's there for the majority of the time in all but severe weather conditions. There is a good argument for usability, which is the reason I personally chose the RS3 over an M2, M3 or M4. Each person has their own requirements and reasons though..

I don't think it's overpriced (...as long as I don't think of the Golf R lol)

Indeed its like BMW M-Cars are the IPhone of the car world, people bring out better products but the media always like to kiss its bum regardless cos its like the industries darling that can do no wrong. In all the reviews ive read of the M2 they gush at its handling, looks and engine but never once mention overpriced, implying that its worth every penny..yet all the rs3 reviews great engine but erm/ah once you add options its starts losing its appeal??

I think the base price of the RS3 is fine. My issue has always been how much Audi charge for the options. And how many options are, in my opinion, necessities. I'd rather they kit it out more sensibly even if it meant upping the base price...it's just tedious speccing up an Audi.

People say my TTRS is overpriced. But I would say the £7k increase over an RS3 is about right. And also it represents good value next to the equivalent competitors like the Cayman...Porsche being another one that is a joke with its standard equipment.

Re the M2, love the looks (always subjective), hate the interior, very good engine but useless in all but bone dry weather. RS3/TTRS much better overall IMO.

BMW are the same. For instance the m2 doesn't come with advance key folding mirrors or camera thus why you need the pack. So already they are forcing you to spend 2k for stuff that let's say amg Mercs give as stabdsta

When I proved an M2 up a while back, there weren't many options that needed ticking. A couple of thousand pounds, tops. Rs3's and fast Audi RS models in particular can easily go north of £10k in options without trying too hard.

Indeed but today I speceed up 6k of options on the RS3 that matches the base price of the new M2 so both being 50k the RS3 was the better car as it had more in it for the same money.

Agree @Doc on the base price and the fact it should come with more as standard or rather more kit, by could ld say that about most of the range. Like the fact you have to pay the silly £70 odd for HHA for example. Suppose they start chucking in kit near the end of the life or with FL’s. My last A6 came with matrix, full elec seats, Valcona leather etc etc, so makes it much more appealing. Marketing and profit margins innit

My issue with extras is you never get the money back at time of sale so if it’s £55000 standard you will get a better return than £45000 with £10000 of extras

Enjoy your extras and your car but it’s money you will only partially recoup

Can’t say I agree on the ‘must have extras unless you won’t sell’

A car with many extras might be more desirable but that’s it

The GFV (if doing PCP) does come into it, in relation to "extras" I think, as a specc'd car is surely going to have higher GFV than non, and as such lower payments in theory, but obviously not realistically if adding loads of options. Recall a few cars back (don't hold me to this) that every £1k of options added around a tenner to monthlies.

Saying all of this, my current Q5 is a pretty standard S-Line, with about £1k worth of options (Metallic paint, folding mirrors, extended LED lighting).

I do wish I had gone with Tech Pack, Pano roof and SS seats :whistle2:
At the time of finding a suitable dealer car, they had one with the above, but was £3k worth.

The fact I got 12% off the car I chose really helped focus the mind :racer:

    Fully specc'd RSQ3 in 2020/2021 :rockwoot:

Yes you are locked into certain extras if you PCP but if you lease, then you are not, thats the finance companies problem once you give it back ;)
