Came across a nice set of wheels for the 8Y which not seen anywhere, don’t think it is even offered in Germany No option for the roof rails either in the UK?? You can get them in Germany but not if you spec panoramic sunroof, you can only have one or the other Thoughts..
Ah yes of course, didn’t think of it being aftermarket as the cars only just come out lol Curious to understand why they havent offered roof rails in the uk, i know some ppl dislike them but maybe they will offer it in the future
The pic I posted are replicas. But they are available OEM if you purchase a 2020 RS7 https://arstechnica.com/cars/2019/0...-time-favorite-fastback-just-got-even-better/
Yeah it's a reflection....l see it now....on my phone l thought it was rails.....best people in the know are the dealers...The configurator is in its infancy with the car, besides l wouldnt go anywhere the 8y until after the first 6 months of production....Then again its just a major facelifted model....panels and lights, dashboard enclosure are new.....the rest is from the existing part bins....so reliabiltiy will be good
That's a rare sight on a new Audi....A car shod with P zeros... most RS6/RS7 have had Hankook tyres.................And the A3/S3 all are shod with Bridgestone tyres ....Cost Cutting...???
Agree. My S3 (now sold by the way) had P zeros from new.. When I replaced them I put same on again. Managed over 18k? from memory on the fronts. I have just had a full set of Goodyear F1's put on the Cupra. Will see how they fare against the Pirrelli's.
Dynamic suspension does not appear to be on the configurator yet :/ We are booked in for a test drive soon. Will be asking the dealer if it's on their ordering system. Did all the launch/review cars have dynamic suspension? Audi must have learned from the previous model launch. All the reviews I read for the old car (except one) recommended deleting the Sline suspension for UK roads. That was my thinking too... it's an electronics upgrade and a lick of paint
Wheels look good. The choice of wheels are pretty terrible but maybe thats just me, the 8v standard wheel designs were decent and didn’t even warrant an upgrade I think the configurator does need updating And so i think the only way would be to go into the dealership but saying that even dealerships have been known to have issues their side and not the complete list of options!
am I the only one that found that you cannot spec the flat bottom wheel if you get the driver assistance pack? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am sure the flat bottom steering wheel will eventually come with DAP ....its available in every other Model with the DAP Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
The dynam I think you're right - As it's available on other models, I don't see how difficult it can be really - Bit lazy by Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus should be standard on the S3 as well as it is on the Edition 1 - The fact you can't even add it seems really strange as well
I have a feeling the virtual cockpit plus will be saved for the vorsprung edition which will have pretty much all the bits and bobs I see what Audi are trying to achieve i.e. people speccing cars in odd ways and so the packs (like mercedes) will force people to get everything which is a shame as it will often mean going well over budget
Oh it well definitely be on the Vorsprung and like you say it will have all the bits although if they put the driver assistance pack on you'll end up with no flat bottom steering wheel which is just **** on an S3
... as opposed to Audi UK specking things in odd ways! I'm currently doing a refresher course on Audi configurator. Simplicity was not a design requirement for that website. Both of our cars have 'adjustable cruse control'. We can not have 'adjustable cruise control' without a driver assistance pack, including other things we really don't want and will never use! My wife said it was a 'must have' feature. Then I told her it was only available as part of a package costing £1750, she said she could learn to live without.
Agree completely , i think in this day and age certain things shouldn’t even need speccing e.g. front/rear sensors but if you want them you need to get the full comfort&sound pack These options will force many cars over the 40k band limit which then means extra road tax for the next five years! Cha ching for the government
It is strange that the new Audi A3s are less configurable than the new Golfs. I’d expect it to be the other way around.
I'm trying decide if the new S3 is going to be worth it as it will be over £40k. So another 5x325 = £1625 in road tax. Then there is the possibility of a WTO tariff of 10% in the event of a 'no deal' brexit. The tariff actually works out at 6.3% or about £2500. So potentially another 4 grand in total. Might have to sell a kidney or two
Definitely a lot more to consider but you could probably keep it under 40k to avoid the extra road tax but less goodies And lets not talk about brexit, thats another spanner thrown into the works lol
Let's have a little thought exercise - which would be the nicer 'everyday driver' car for my wife - an S3 saloon at £39k with £1k of accessories (£1600 if you like white) or an A3 Sline saloon in a nice colour with matrix led headlights, B&O sound, reversing camera, heated seats, adaptive cruise control, adjustable suspension (if its available), advanced key, automatic boot. My opinion is that an full spec A3 would be a nicer car to drive everyday than a poverty spec S3. Or accept that a decent spec S3 will come with an additional £1625 road tax, but be a nicer car to own. My wife has said a few times that the car must have adaptive cruise control. I have it as well and it would be hard to go back. So that is a £1850 option on its own. Even in white, that makes the S3 saloon £40,315. (Yes, she wants a saloon, I want an S3 ) Edit: (Brad Pitt's voice) The first rule of brexit, do not discuss brexit, the second rule of brexit...
No brainer mate....Go for the fully spec'd S Line (if it's the same price?).... All the S3 is brining to the table is the performance... My guess is your wife won't be interested in the traffic light Grand Prix.? So she will appreciate the extras more than the power.
what's the price difference between a fully speccd s3 vs fully specd a3 not including yearly tax etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
£44785 for the S3 saloon and £38330 for an Edition 1 saloon. Auto and with 5 year extended warranty. Maybe more or less but that's just a quick example between them.
^This I get riled whenever road tax is due but that’s once a year. Enjoy the car and toys most days. That’s a 300:1 ratio. Do wish I had ACC though. Primary decision on a car is usually engine choice, regardless of S3 or A3 (or Merc, BMW etc...)
@Daz Auto Did say it was for his better half. Most women have a different view point when it comes to cars. Usually colour and size come first on the list. Not being sexist or anything ...just saying lol
A3 Sline with most of the boxes ticked £34,330 S3 with most of the boxes ticked £42,310 (probably another grand for adjustable suspension when available) So £9k difference, excluding extra road tax, extra insurance and extra petrol, extra tyre wear Does anyone know if it costs more to get an S3 serviced? (Apart from the Quattro oil changes.)
£900 give or take for Audi to service an S3 over 3 years,S3 saloon costs more on fuel,tyres,insurance..... Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
Look at PCH and you can get a S3 for around £90 per month extra over an Edition s tronic and no concerns with road tax. Shame about the roof rails. I could really do with having these.
It’s not for everyone and every buyer has their own priorities. I thought that for many years. Then I got one and then metaphorically kicked myself in the ‘nads for not making the jump sooner. You don’t have to rag it all the time - it can be driven like a normal car.
Generally disappointed in the configurations being offered on the new sportback. Why no "sport" seats in the "sport" version as on the previous 8v model? Why only vinyl/pretend leather seat material on sport & s-line, no cloth option. I checked Audi.ie and there are many more options available including roof rails as someone mentioned before. Likewise in Germany there is more choice, but guess that is expected. UK missing out again!
