Online Software Update

Does the Online Software Update within the car work for anyone? On both my A4s it has said something the lines of 'Not possible to connect to the update server'.

If its the maps I wouldn't bother to be honest, you are much better off downloading them on a PC to a 32gb SD card. Updates, however, only work with the mmi tech pack..

No it's the firmware for the MMI

You have never been able to update the mmi firmware yourself. A topic frequently discussed...

Is the system maintenance software update screen not for the firmware? I'd have though an update option within the maps section is for the maps.

As stated, only audi dealerships can legitimately update the firmware, there are unapproved websites if you search hard enough where you can obtain maps and firmware then update through a system menu, but your dealership should be able to do this at no risk to yourself when the car is serviced..
