That's what the "expert" at work told me.

Had to drive to Coventry for work and the trip gizmo reading on arrival...

45.1mpg

Mind you this "expert" also told me an Astra VXR was a good car.

The definition of an expert.
X is an unknown quantity and a spurt is a drip under pressure.

Gramps! I can barely average 45 in my 1.9tdi altea!

Well, you can hardly call 1.9 tdi engine newer :) My leon 2.0tdi PD170 was ridiculous. Barely 40mpg. That said, I would still have one without a doubt.

Mine 19 :) But every time I get inside, I drive like I stole it.

I would imagine your Altea has the 1.9tdi PD lump. I never thought they were as good on fuel as the old VE lumps.

I can average 55 out of the 1.9tdi quattro on general driving. on a run I can get an average of 62.
it was slightly worse before I fitted the chipped ecu
my old fwd was a wee bit better but not much tbh

My S4 say's it's averaging 18.9... Which is actually about right having worked it out properly too.

Well what do you know, the return leg was a little better despite slipping the aircon on a few times.
