Hi all.
I was driving home this afternoon and the 'oil min' warning light appeared on my dash.
When I got home I checked the oil level, which was low, so I topped it up with about a litre.
The problem now is that the warning message still appears on the dash.
I don't know if I need to do something to reset it. I suspect that it should go away by itself.
Any ideas?

It's a 2001 A4 2.0 with 156,000 miles.

You sure its not oil pressure min and its oil pickup blocked, very common fault!

Thanks for the reply.
It was the 'oil low' warning, in yellow, and not the oil pressure warning, which I believe is a red warning light.

The oil was very low, so I topped it up to the max mark, but was worried that the warning didn't go out. However, 2 days later, it did. So it's all good!

Sensors have been know to fail - worth keeping an eye on the level manually for a while. That said, they seem to fail as "low oil" rather than just stop working. There are people who have over-filled as a result.

Does your bonet show open on the dash? If not it won't reset the oil light.
