Oil service cost.... S3

So just to follow up on my original post, I booked the car in at Bradford Audi for the oil change service and asked while I was there how much it was?
The verbal price I was given was £258, which I thought was a lot but didn't question it at the time.
I then enquired at Leeds Audi and was given a price of £272 with another £20 off when i asked for a discount.
I rang Bradford Audi back and was quoted £299 (wtf) with again another £20 off when I asked for a discount .
I tried VW but they were a bit unsure over the online service recording part and so I left it at that.
A local independent quoted me £199 which I was tempted with but I'd rather keep the Main dealer history intact for any potential goodwill in the future and for resale time.
The nearest 5 Audi dealers are all Sytner owned so decided I would get a similar price from all of them.
The next closest to me is York Audi, run by JCT600. They quoted me £236 and after asking for a discount on that, came back with £176.....result!
Had it done today and it just shows how much some dealers take the Mick!

Result!

Aye it’s strange how you only needed 5 litres of oil and I need 10 litres?!?

As long as the final price covers everything required it’s probably irrelevant how they build it up.

Had mine serviced today £194.20 for 1st oil service at 10,600 miles, all covered by the lease deal thankfully.

@Audi Bairn cost will be of interest to you.

Comes in handy knowing someone in the dealership, went in today - £165 no haggling.

That's what I use to do my own interim oil changes
I spoke to the dealer last week to nail a price down before my appointment and was quoted £299!
She said the car takes 6.7ltr of oil and the materials come to £167.
If the car was 3 years old then the price would be significantly cheaper, sorry but I don't get that!
I'm looking to get a quote from my local VW dealer and I'll take it there if it means not being ripped off by Audi dealers
I tried to get my local VW and Skoda dealers to service my MK2 TT and they made a lot of excuses about not doing it.

They said they'd do it and gave me a price, however they were under the impression that they couldn't update the online service history.

They told me they couldn’t update the service history as well but if you get a full vat invoice from them that would be fine. Was the price they gave you very competitive with Audi as to make it worthwhile.

I can't honestly remember now but it was less than Bradford Audi but more than York Audi.
My mate has a MK7 R and all the prices he gets are less than Audis tbh

Had an inspection servicc in November , done 2000 miles and now wants an oil service , quoted £266 . Waiting for a quote from Indy who are a Bosch centre . They say they can update digital service record .
The receptionist seemed “ computer says no” at dealer so have emailed them . If over three years old it would be £189. A real rip off as we are all seeing. Ok small money after paying £30k for a performance car , it is a case of feeling ripped off .

Most of the cost is oil, every dealer has there own mark up cost on the oil.

My dealer charges an eye watering £17 per litre of oil. I supplied them with the same oil I sourced for £7 per litre.

Payed £171 in total.

You guys are all lucky. I was quoted over £370 from Audi for oil change and pollen filter (2nd service on 2016 A3, at about 12K miles). Needless to say, I went to an independent, who completed the work for £140 and updated the online record.

I was quoted a similar price to that for my second service (oil change + pollen filter + inspection).

Yes , but paid alr ast £350 just 6 months and 2000 miles ago ! Anyway Indy can do it for £150 and update service record all with oem parts . Would have been happy to pay the £189 fixed service price

I paid £310 a week ago for oil change plus inspection service which of course was far more expensive than independent but overall not too bad.

They recommended a tyre change however, and for 4 MPS4’s they quoted £148.80 a corner and after 3 emails and a screengrab from blackcircles managed to get them matched at £97.22 a corner.

I assume they’ve already made the profit on the Service, but still, £51 a tyre discount! Makes you think how much money they make on non awkward yorkshire people :p

My service was covered by Audi UK so there was no negotiation on price, but this is what the invoice says..

AVS - Carried out oil and inspection service with a pollen filter change - £262.50
Premium Screenwash - £2.73
Drain Plug - £4.14
FilterRelem - £10.34
Dust Filter - £17.93
Shell Helix Ultra AV Qty 5.90 - £94.40

So parts and labour is £392.04 with £78.41 VAT bringing it to a grand total of £470.45

Insane the markup on the oil .....

Why would anyone pay someone for screenwash is beyond belief ?

Shell helix ultra av-l can be picked up from £40 for a 5L bottle.

Because it's "Premium" .... ;) I used my rear wiper on the way home and it looked rather clear like water, so god knows what it is.

And well yeah, exactly in regards to the oil.... rip off.

Ok Indy quote all incl vat
Oil £43.61
Filter £9.80
Labour £97.50

Genuine audi filter and correct oil , at a Bosch accredited garage that update on line service record

My main gripe is by splitting the inspection service and oil service the total is over £600 in six months .

The last time I felt bad about service cost is when I had a Land Rover so got rid of it and bought a Honda !

Might start looking at a Jag E Pace ,
Though I really like my car just dislike the dealers.

And you actually paid that? That makes me angry, and it's not even my money.

Also, pollen filter and dust filter are the same thing - have they charged you twice? Carbon filter is £9 from TPS, and it takes 5 minutes to change it yourself.

There's not really much difference in an inspection/oil service at indies. Most indies just do everything, i.e. inspect suspension, bushes, exhaust etc as well as doing the oil change. At least my Audi specialist did. Audi even offer a free 'health check' where they do a 90+ point inspection.

I think I'd have fainted if i had to pay it myself. Audi UK paid for this one (gesture of goodwill).

.. I am worried for the next service at 40K though which I will have to pay myself and that needs more parts!

Aye. 40K is the big one pal. I've just done my Haldex at 33K so I won't be stung on that when I have to do the S-Tronic oil and Spark plugs at 40. Perhaps I'll be lucky and won't get to 40K by the time I hand the car back next year for end of contract. One can hope xD
