What would people recommend for my 2009 1.4 TFSI, Quantum or Shell Helix?

Also, is there much difference between 5w-40 and 0w-40?

Most folks use 5W - 30 or 5W - 40

0W / 5W 30 is a fraction thinner but higher quality .

I was under the impression that if you’re on fixed service interval as opposed to longlife, it is better to use 0W/5W-40?

Also, I take it that brand isn’t that important then?

A spec is a spec , Quantum will be the best value approved .

Medium quality oil Vs High quality .

I’ve found Quantum to be cheaper than other premium brandswhen buying oil and some main VAG dealers sell it cheaper than eBay or other oil suppliers.
Having said that, I went to collect some car parts at ECP today and 5L Helix 5/40 on special offer at £24, so I bought 10litres. The bargains seem to find me

Bought Quantum 5W40 off eBay 5L for £20. Not a bad price I think.

Should of got the Quantum 5W30 .

Castrol ll3 and now quantum ll3 5w30 for the last 2 changes.
