So, first time in 24 years of driving I topped up the oil and forgot to replace the filler cap, can't remember what must of distracted me...

So I'm driving along and notice the engine warning light is on, I'm like oh shiiiit whats gone now. When I popped the bonnet i see my mistake, luckily the cap is still sitting there. So I drive home and google what could have happened by leaving the cap off, could find anything on here but general comments were that it doesn't harm anything but can cover your engine bay with. No oil came out of the filler on mine.

So I reset the ecu and see if the light goes off, it does...

Anyone know what caused the light to come on, and reassure me that I did no damage?

Cheers

Light came on as it's a pcv system and it was open. damn lucky not to have a lovley job of cleaning it.

Double check the level when left for 10 mins on a flat surface.
