I noticed a boost pipe (I think it's a boost pipe anyway) was not connected properly so put my hand on it to push it in and my hand was covered in oil from underneath. Is it normal to have oil in a boost pipe and is it most likely that its collected there as its leaked out? It's this bit here, the oil is under the connection -

I also noticed oil in the boost pipe where it connects to the EGR valve when I was fitting my temp sensor , is this normal too?

Thanks all..

yup its normal

you will get oil mist though the crank case breather and you will probably get a bit past the turbo too

its pretty normal, could be worth changing the boost pipe seals to try and prevent to oil leakage. Our 2.0tdi A3 has this problem. been like it for 3 years with no issues, keep meaning to buy new seals from audi as there really cheap to buy.
