Oil Change

Hi all,

When my car gets back from its MOT the first thing it needs is an oil change and filter change after being stood for over a year.

I have plenty of oil and plan on draining the existing oil out, filling up with fresh then replacing again.

Is it worth running the car for an hour / day / week before changing the oil for the second time?

When would be best to change the oil filter?

Not sure why you’re planning to change the oil twice? Instead you could look into using some Wynns engine cleaner additive to the old oil before draining (instructions say how long to run it for).
Which car do you have? If it’s a turbo diesel then using the right VW spec oil is important.

Right spec , there is only one spec and it does it all .

Change the oil and oil filter at the same time, do it once and do it right no need for two oil changes. I would also recommend using an oil flush especially on turbo powered cars.
