Due to the hot weather I've been driving round with AC ON LO speed 3-4 which is unusual for me.

Noticed when car is at 1000 rpm which it likes to be at in 5th at around 30, if you put your foot down nothing happens much, until it drops a few gears which can take a few seconds.

Turn AC off and open windows (the way I usually drive) and it all goes back to normal, instant acceleration.

Is this a problem worth sending the car to Audi to be fixed? It has warranty.

Given we only have a week of hot weather like this, I'm loathe to be without a car for weeks on end.

I've noticed tons of threads for audis and other cars describing this same problem.

Posting here because then NEW A5 subforum is pretty dead.

Thanks

I would say it’s quite normal in any car.
anything running off the engine saps torque, like alternator, air con pump, supercharger, this is especially noticeable at low revs. Normal human reaction when you feel the car has less go you give it more gas and that triggers the gearbox to kick down. This is less noticeable in diesels as they have huge amount of low down torque.

Yeah, seems to be, didn't expect it to be this bad though.
