I have the quattro 2.0 170 diesel engine in my 2010 a4 avant.
I have only had it for a month and found that quite often when engine is first started then I reverse it will stall.
I doesn't usually happen after engine warm.
Any ideas what is causing this?

Manual gearbox = you are not giving the car enough revs or are not slipping the clutch enough and it is stalling. Nothing wrong with the car.

It will always be more prone to stalling when cold as it's a diesel and relies on compression to burn the fuel. Added heat from a warm engine helps ignite the fuel easier so is less likely to stall. However it's not a fault with the car as-such.

Should have mentioned I had dtuk pedal box and tuning box installed.
I removed both and no longer any issue.
