So the 2016 S3 I purchased three weeks ago is going back to the dealer. They've agreed to take the car back and give me a full refund......Since picking the car up I've had nothing but issues with it......The issues started the day after I collected it. On start up I was kept getting a message saying that there was a fault with the headlight range level sensor. I called the dealer and they told me to take the car for a diagnostic check. So after calling my local garage I found out they had a diagnostic and would be happy to help. I was able to call round that day. After the diagnostic check was carried out several faults appeared. Sunroof issue, ignition issue, headlight range level sensor, camshaft position sensor, tyre pressure monitoring issue, cooling fan issue.....Those are the ones I can remember. In this point I thinks its pertinent to mention the car has a FASH and has covered just 34000 miles.

I called the dealer back and they said it would be best to take the car back and they would have they garage sort out all the issues. They loaned me a BMW 420d, which I hated.....Horrible.....I'll never buy a BMW. Anyway I got a call on the third day informing me that the S3 needed 2 new timing chains!? Two new timing chains with only 34000 on the clock? Surely it should just need adjustment? This was causing the Camshaft position sensor fault apparently. Finally a week later I was told I could collect the car. All other faults had been cleared and all necessary work carried out.

I had the car back one day and decided to give it a polish in the nice sunshine. The car is Panther Black Crystal so had plums and greens and golds in it depending on the sunlight.....I noticed that the passenger side rear bumper was a totally different black. I hadn't noticed this before because when I viewed the car it was chucking it down and also when I collected it. So it has clearly had bump of some sort in the passed and they've done a terrible job of matching the paint.

I've also since noticed that the sunroof wind deflector had a hole in it. Then I started getting another fault. Vehicle Electronics Fault. Shift to P before leaving vehicle. Contact mechanic. So I called the dealer and again was told to take it to a local garage and have the fault diagnosed. So I booked the car in for tomorrow.

Yesterday we decided to go for a drive......It was chilly and raining so decided to put the eating on (not a/c heating). After several miles we confirmed that there wasn't any heating at all.....Just cold air.....Then we noticed a strong smell of petrol.....I pulled over and popped the bonnet.....After close inspection I could see oil and fuel pooling all over the top of the bell housing......I immediately called the owner of the garage....Within minutes he said bring it back for a full refund or see if there is anything else in stock you fancy.....I chose the refund. Nothing against the garage at all there customer service has been excellent and they have bent over backwards trying to sort this out. I'm genuinely disappointed as the car was an excellent spec. But I just felt that enough was enough. I've lost all confidence in the car and think it's just going to be problem after problem. Perhaps it's just one of those cars........

On the upside however I have put a deposit on this......It's a better spec than the one I'm taking back.....Picking it up tomorrow:yahoo:

Sorry mate only saw this thread now.

Clearly that car had serious issues, so well done for getting rid, new one looks lovely, I am a big fan of Daytona, and top top spec.

Look forward to the pics after detail

So, Just to get my head around it, you bought your car for an independent dealer, right. And after experiencing all these issues you put down deposit on another car and this time again, from an independent garage... And then you say that you are disappointed in Audi ... Really ...

Do you not think you should now avoid independents like a plague... You have learnt your lesson ... or have you ...

I think you've misunderstood. The car was the problem not the independent dealer. They did everything they could to sort out the issues. Even to the point of refunding my money and taking the car back.

Not dissapointed in Audi. Just that particular car that's all. I've had very good experiences with the dealers I've dealt with.

The only lesson I've learnt is that sometimes things can go wrong and the odd car can be troublesome. But it's all sorted now and I am extremely happy. :blow:

Agreed. They refunded the money because they had to and knew they didn't' have a choice. It was "faulty" goods not sold with the right intention. I would be surprised to believe that they had carried out all the required checks before the sale. I bet they didn't. All the must have done would have been to take it to a local hand car wash, pay them £40 for a "full decon".

You were well within your right to ask for your money. Nobody pays to buy problems and 99.9% of times you will have "issues" when you purchase a car from an Independent garage. I am yet to come across an example where it has went all smooth and hassle free.

Glad it is all sorted now mate and I am sure the new car will be all problem free :icon thumright:
