hi i have a 17 plate S1 that makes a grinding noise but it goes away when i hold the clutch pedal down, i’ve had my clutch and flywheel replaced and the noise is still their and its slightly louder. everything got replaced with the new clutch kit. does anyone have a idea what it could be?

It could well be the input shaft bearings which means box rebuild time, Unlikely to be release bearing as they make noise when loaded up eg clutch pedal pressed.

Is you car high mileage?

The clutch seems to be the weak point of the S1 from what I've been reading .
What mileage is your S1 on @Phazer ?

Clutch is weak on most EA888 Gen 3 cars. This one sounds like a 'box problem which is unusual until the miles rack up/high power/abuse.

Mine is super low miles, not sure if I've hit 6k yet

it’s done 49k
it goes through the gears and pulls away fine etc it just makes a annoying noise. i upgraded the clutch to a RTS one as i knew the s1 clutches were rubbish.

Yeah that'd be the case for a failed main bearing. RTS don't have the greatest rep on the S1 scene but if the noise is was there before and still present it's not that.

You need to take it to someone who understands gearboxes to get their opinion really.

gonna give them a phone tomorrow, my warranty expires in 10 days so hopefully it’s enough time to sort it

thought i’d give a update , took it to a specialist and the gearbox was immaculate, don’t know what else it could be :(

If holding the clutch down makes the noise go away, it’s got to be gearbox as that’s the only thing that stops turning when the clutch is disengaged.
