My mate is having a problem with the radio, He says there is now power to the leads,

Not sure how he has tested that, But is there a fuse for the radio?

Or any other suggestions?

Just read there is no ignition live to the wires? Does that mean a piggy back fuse has to be used?

If so which one is best?

Depends if he is referring to the stock Audi radio or an aftermarket unit. There is only a permanent live on the wiring loom as the ignition on is controlled digitally by the CANBUS. So only one fuse to check in the fusebox, but also one on the back of the HU.

He wants to add an aftermarket unit, Is his options the canbus (are theyre cheaper places that £50?)... Or a 12v piggy back fuse?

Three minutes inside the fuse box with a test meter will give him his answer.

Here in LHD-land it's fuse position 41, as I recall... but it's just quicker to test than to ask...

He doesnt have a multimeter and lives to far away,

If he was to buy the canbus, would the power problems be solved? And he could work a aftermarket head unit?

Also would it be fine if he installed a screen unit using the canbus?

Thanks
