Hi had my gearbox reconditioned on my 2010 RS5 and now have no phone!, the mmi is saying it's not installed, any ideas? Cheers.

If they took the entire transmission out, I'm sure they took a section of the interior apart around the shift lever to get the transmission out. Most likely, they forgot to plug something back in.

Out of curiosity, what exactly did they do to the gearbox to recondition it? Was it a full-on, transmission out job with new clutch pack and Mechatronic sort of thing?

Yes mate just as you said, with a 12,000 mile warranty, cost of works was £4,000 Cheers for the advice will get it checked out.

Ouch. Not cheap but not too bad either if it was transmission out. How many miles? Was it a case of the clutch packs being worn and slipping or was it strictly a mechatronic related issue with a warning on the dash? You can now buy the electronic circuit board for the Mechatronic separately from the entire unit. This is what usually corrodes and goes bad, causing the gearbox failure warning. There are other small, things that seem to go wrong with the S-Tronic in the RS5 but that's the major one. Normally they just pull the entire Mechatronic out and slap a new one in. Now they can just pull out the electronic board and put a new one in. About 1/4 of the cost. Here in the states it runs about $350 for the new electronics board (just to give you an idea).

For the phone...There are several "modules" that make up the stereo/infotainment system and they're all separate units that plug in. Having looked at the factory service manual on transmission removal (out of curiosity), I don't actually remember having to unplug any of those modules as they're further up the dash in front of the shift unit. But one never knows. I'd look there first (it's the easiest, most likely scenario) and if not, might be an unfortunate coincidence that it went bad.

The mileage was 44,400 the clutch pack was slipping too!, i spoke to the transmission specialist about the wiring pack on the mechatronics and he said he don't do it, i suppose he don't want come backs!, on another subject the inlet flaps have gone now on both banks £1,400 for them, still waiting for them from Germany, it's now three week's, never mind lol.
