Picked this up last weekend only managed to give it a good clean and Polish today ! Always wanted one and this came up with a good spec as I am in process of stripping my old car which was starlet, 2 completely different cars !

I have few plans for it :

New wheels
Water meth
Large port head and cams
Maybe a wrap

Nice n tidy what bhp is it. Dont look right with a single tailpipe tho imo

Appreciate the comments.

Got a dyno figure for 400bhp feels pretty quick to, I like to be different so keeping the single pipe everyone has twin and oval ! Lol

I bet that shifts. I hope you don't think I was being rude. What power was the starlet at?

No not at all, Yes it does :) my starlet was 340bhp so it's no where near as fast as the starlet but handles way better though

I bet it ain't good fun the starlets but you'll find the s3 better in the wet a just a nicer place to be in general

The starlet was exciting to drive, a handful lol the s3 as you say is a nicer place to be that starlet had no stereo horn didn't even work. Now I've got electric seats !

what is the gt28 setup & supporting mods you have and what are you boosting to?

why did the previous owner take off the S3 badge from the grill?

Fully forged bottom end Wossner pistons and IE rods, 1000cc injectors, inline pump, pro alloy intercooler full 3" exhaust running a gt2871r owens development hybrid on a tsr manifold at 26 psi.

The whole car has been debaged he wanted the understated look, as the engine bay still looks standard to

Would you not benefit from a larger intake manifold or is turbo at the max as it is

Yes uprated intake would help but figure is there any point on a small port head ?

I have indeed it was apparently mapped by yourself !
yea, just looked at its plot as you posted the plot up with registration.
as expected at that power level (which was excellent for a 2871) it also shows its working very hard and egts are hurting >6500rpm.

You got more plans for it?
Running ok?

Well the bloke told me egts were fine but I did wonder as I did research before I bought it. Plans are to get it breathing better and some water meth.

I was going to go large port head but a few have said I could just get bigger intake. Would like to add some cams aswell

Was told it's done like 15k on the engine and it all seems to run sweet no smoking or anything

Be better breathing with both the large inlet and large port head

Going large port you have to buy aftermarket intake as throttle body is on wrong side

There's a large port head just popped up in the classifieds if it's any use to you

At this power level small port is more benficial

<tuffty/>

Did you mean to say small port tuffty ? Small port with uprated intake ok for 450 hp ?

And badger5 would you say this is a dangerous engine then, should I be worried ?

Bill can post up his opinions and supporting graphs on this but yeah... no massively flow limited at that power but you benefit from the faster port speeds lower down...

From the looks on that graph the GT28 could be running a 0.84 hotside?

<tuffty/>

I don't actually know what hot side assume it's an .84 just got told it's a gt2871r hybrid. Running a lot of boost but In fairness it does run really well

Was wondering why it looked laggy

Well finally got the wheels done, a lot tidier now I will be getting new wheels but for the moment it looks clean. I also fitted my personal plate original plates were tired anyway :)
Thanks to em tuning for the full interior bulb kit which I fitted aswell now.

I have read your thread tuffty lol you had a few problems with it. Did it affect the way it handled etc dramatically ?

Certainly helps get you out the corners tbh... the issue I had was down to the ABS sensor failing not the unit...

Most notable is pulling off quickly as before the haldex would kick in with a bit of a thud where the power would catch it out... now I don't even notice or feel it... just squats her ar*e and goes...

<tuffty/>

Can't wait to get it installed ! Got some Leon cupra r topmounts as mine are shot also wheel bearing needs doing then to throw her round some bends ! Not really had a proper drive round some lanes in it yet

Well whilst fitting some Leon cupra r topmounts, gave the car a good once over..........

Turns out I need all new poly bushes on the wishbones as there all shot, new poly on the dogbone mount as that's shot, leaking rocker cover, fuel lines are perishing, and turns out my tappets are really noisey ! Hoping some new fresh 5w -40 oil will help and will put a magnetic sump plug in. Leaking exhaust joint.

Seems what I thought was a basic topmount change is turning into a bigger and bigger repair Bill lol
